I was referring to the 'previous Victorian' station that Kevin McCloud says Birmingham should have kept. What remained after the magnificent Victorian arch had been removed because of bomb damage was as O. S. Nock says a "dismal makeshift'. There was no longer a grand old Victorian station to keep.

None yesterday. They appear still to be doing prepatory work for cladding attachment tests.

I'm agitated to see the cladding - it will make or break this building, some renders show quite a bright garish cladding - others show a more refined tone - I'm praying it's the latter...

It will look great I think, will really brighten up the areas around it and hopefully we will see some investment brought into the city around the development.

Here's a few photos I got yesterday although it's dangerously inviting another question or statement on progress.

shows all that is wrong with the world, this forum is descending into pointless picture posting, arguments based on no factual basis, rudeness and thread bumping.

Anyway onto new street. Its hard to see anything going on right now, i assume they are hard at work in the new concourse as its not long until that is meant to be open now.

Well i dhope you on't think the picture of the roof demolition above is pointless . There has been progress at least there although as most of the big work is internal and hidden from view. The most we'll see is the deconstruction of Stephenson Tower, work on the link behind the Odeon and the erection of steel cladding.

Concourse opens autumn/winter 2012 doesn't it so a bit longer to wait.

I did notice the cabin's / structures adjacent to Stephenson Tower (closest to Hill Street) have been demolished when i went past on the bus yesterday.

Incidentally do we know what the structure is they've built where they cut away some of the sandstone on platform 1?

No feltip lol i think we know where and when pointless picture posting applies. Those pictures add some kind of information to the construction and our understanding. Pointless would have been 6 pictures your 1st picture, the ramp.

lol BDE, it was indeed, nicer in the Birmingham weather thread though lol

Indeed djay.

Found a snap from the 7th, albeit not the best angle, showing that demolition adjacent to Stephenson Tower.

When they begin putting the cladding on this, can we make the assumption that they are going to put some sort of cover round the whole station similar to what they did with Orion/Selfridges? I hope so.

Second question which kind of relates to this but if not I can take advantage of Woodys absence anyway They are quite clearly going to repave Corporation Street when the Metro goes in, well though images we saw of a repaved New Street/High Street etc with new Street furniture, will that start as well?

And I appreciate your pictures Feltip, a lot more than other.

No idea what the steel is for but the road is being made one way as part of the interchange and metro so maybe it is to do with that?
