would seem the right way about it...as its connected to the BullRing they might as well just add it to the map and call it the Bullring.
Just need to get TK Maxx clad properly (should have been done properly the last time) as well and the join will be seamless...well, almost. |

They don't seem to like doing that. IIRC all the shopping centres in Shrewsbury are connected and owned by the same people as each other but they're seperate identities. Similarly the Wulfrun Centre could easily be an extension of the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton.
I agree it should be done though. Wonder where it would put it on rankings? |

I sure hope the waiting areas will be better in the redesign. I was at New Street yesterday morning after a night out. Bham NS at half 5 in the morning is not the greatest of places in the world.

I think you'll find the station was designed with that curve a long time before the '60s. When the Midland Railway built its shed to the south of the LNWR shed in 1854, the tracks had to be curved to meet up with the tracks at either end. The '60s station just follows the footprint of the original.

Speaking from experience, neither are Liverpool Street, Euston, Kings Cross (old style, not the new station opened last week), St Pancras (again old style), Paddington and London Bridge. Stations generally are the abode of vagrants from 11 - 6 in the morning, and those unfortunate enough to miss their last trains!

You should go to Victoria coach station London if your worried about people hanging around....truly an awful place...anytime of the day!
New Street is nothing compared to that dodgy eye sore...Victoria is like something from a Charles Dickens book! Im sure the new New Street will be staffed well and wont be an issue. |

I spoke to someone working at Tescos and they said that the store would be moving downstairs. It make a lot of sense and I recall someone else posted it as well recently. Anyone know if this is definate or just rumour?

I don't know, but retail space will be on two floors, unlike the one floor it is now.

I hope the new John Lewis re-vitalises Dudley Street/Hinckley Street. Especially the Comfort Inn on the corner. I noticed some signage over the window saying Platform 13 perhaps an old bar, does anyone know what this is?

that area around the comfort, with the Electric and Rep could be a great retail/entertainment area.

The Crown is being redeveloped into residential starting this year, I hear. I am biased but what we don't need is American themed eateries like Garfunkels. What we do need, to complement the JLP branding, is some upmarket restaurants to fill in between the Chinese quarter and the Station.

Surely it wouldn't be approved with M&S already taking a large chunk of the custom.
