Bama held LSU to 96 total yrds of offense.

The LSU offense did not cross the 50 yrd line, until mid 4th qtr.

The LSU defense held Bama to one TD in the red zone.

It was a marvelous defensive performance. But in that category, I have to pimp my 2006 Gators. They held Ohio State to 64 yards total offense, including NINE inches per play in the second half.

Yes, they allowed 14 points. One touchdown on an opening kickoff return TD by Ted Ginn, Jr. The other on a 52-yard drive. Apart from that they allowed 12 yards in the game.

Opinions are never valid but from observation I don`t think OSU/Stanford could beat Alabama.I have studied the talent and style of play on those teams and they do not look as solid as Alabama.

I'm of the opinion that Stanford would match up quite well with Bama. Luck may be the best college QB ever. He operates behind a sturdy O-Line that features TWO projected first-round picks. And he throws to two massive tight ends who can run.

Defense ? Not so much. But tough and fairly disciplined, holdover from Harbaugh.

Not saying they'd beat Bama. Am saying that Bama sure as hell wouldn't shut them down. Bama would likely have to open things up and outscore them.

Almost forgot about that 2006 Gator D, solid but still gotta give the edge to this Bama squad.

Best out of 5, definitely Bama, but on a given day, OSU and Stanford could probably pull it off...and yea, what Dale said.

In my opinion Lee would not of fared any better. Yes he did lead the team to an 9-0 start, but when any qb knows if you throw two ints in the biggest game in the regular season, your gonna get pulled.
But why wasn't Jefferson pulled after 4 fumbles and 1 interception in the biggest game of the year the national championship?

Why wasn't Jefferson pulled in the second biggest game of the year the SEC championship. In the SEC championship game LSU had 8 straight 3 and outs. LSU did not get a first down in that game until half way in the 3rd quarter. Jefferson finished the game with 30 yards passing against a Georgia defense that is not elite. Why was Jefferson not pulled???? I don't mind pulling a quarterback when he stinks it up but Miles was never consistent.

Here is another fun stat: Jefferson had 13 rushing attempts for 12 yards against Bama. All of LSU's running backs had a combined 12 carries for the game!

Bama's game plan on defense was simple. Stop the run and stop the option. They knew Jefferson couldn't pass. The LSU coaching staff did not trust Jefferson to throw a pass longer than 5 yards. LSU had open receivers down the field. Jefferson couldn't throw the ball. Lee could have.

Lee is pure pocket passer. LSU's running backs would have had more carries in the game. Lee has the ability to stretch the field and could have burned Bama on play action. Sure he might throw a pick but it's not worst than the turnover machine Jefferson.

Hopefully in 2013 we will be discussing the Alabama Vs OSU or Stanford stats.

With Lee ,LSU would have made it pass the the 50 yard line but the game would have still been in favor of Alabama.

But thanks to Miles we shall never no. I don't mean to be a hater on Jefferson it's more directed to Les Miles. If Miles is making 3.6 million a year then he deserves to be questioned. This is not about one game it's from 2 years of frustration with Les Miles and his loyalty to certain players on many positions on the LSU team.

Glad the SEC won the title even though it was Bama they are still down on my LSU rivalry hate list:

1. Ole Miss
2. Auburn
3. Florida
4. Alabama
5. Arkansas

Hopefully in 2013 we'll be discussing how the SEC failed to reach the BCS title game.

Agreed, definitely not with this system. Though early, most pundits this morning already talking about next season are touting LSU, USC and UGA as they suspect the Tide will lose a lot of talent.

2012 BCS title game had the lowest tv rating of any game since it's inception.

Basically reinforcing the notion this remains a popularity contest. If Bama proved they're the "best" team in the country (and confirmed they were the better of the teams from the first game), then why keep LSU #2?

All hail the power of branding!
