VENICE | People Mover

People Mover is an APM (automated people mover) that will connect "Piazzale Roma", the main important auto-terminal of Venice, to "Tronchetto", an artificial island where there are parks and officies.

There are two vehicles, each one has a capacity of 200 people; frequency: 3 minutes.

It will be completed by the end of 2009.

The route (857 m):

The stations are 3: Piazzale Roma, Marittima, Tronchetto.

PIAZZALE ROMA

MARITTIMA

TRONCHETTO

I do not like Dopelmayr installations. The APM at Pearson Airport(Toronto) is a bumpy ride.

There's an on-going discussion about Toronto-Pearson's cable-pulled LINK Trains (among other things) running between the airport terminals and long-term parking over in the Aviation section. It's a decent ride if a bit bumpy, similar to riding a bus. Since the cars are being pulled instead of riding on their own power it tends to exaggerate the bumps when two of the track beams meet. Perhaps this has more to do with the number of curves and pitch changes required to navigate around the airport.
