AJW Aviation to manage entire fleet rebrand for AZAL

AJW Aviation, the world’s leading independent complete aircraft spares support specialist, has been contracted to carry out the rebranding of Azerbaijan Airline’s entire fleet.

The fleet of eighteen aircraft includes A319, A320, B757 and B767, all of which are to undergo rebranding by the end of 2013 to meet the airline’s operational deadline. AJW has already delivered the first A320 aircraft in the new livery, and a second is currently under-going the rebranding work. AJW has selected Eirtech Aviation to carry out the painting of the aircraft.

Deepak Sharma, Technical Director of AJW Group comments “We are pleased to continue our long standing relationship with Azerbaijan Airlines and this is testimony to AJW’s reputation across Eastern Europe. It is evidence of our team’s technical project management expertise and demonstrates AJW’s commitment to delivering outstanding value for money and excellent customer service. Our experienced and dedicated people have worked extensively to meet the client’s targets. We are on track and on schedule.”

In November 2012, AJW Capital Partners Limited, part of the AJW Group of companies, purchased two new A340-500 aircraft from Airbus SAS to be entered into commercial service with Azerbaijan Airlines after extensive repainting and cabin configuration co-ordinated by AJW’s in-house technical team.

The new blue design is nice, but I am afraid that Azerbaijan Airlines may not be recognizable, especially because there is no visible logo and the name is also in a blue hue. The national airline - the "flag carrier" - of a country should be recognizable around the globe. I wish they also used the national colors of Azerbaijan in the new design, at least for the tails for example. Yes, the previous design of Azerbaijan Airlines was very old fashioned and a modernization of its design was long overdue, but it was recognizable. The design as a whole is attractive, but I think it is more suitable for a private airline.

When I first saw the new livery of Azerbaijan Airlines, I must admit I didn't really like it. But it's starting to grow on me now.

Looks like from 9 August, Azerbaijan Airlines will start a nonstop flight between Baku and Beijing twice weekly on board its B767-300ER aircraft, with flights operating Tuesdays and Fridays from Baku (Wednesdays and Saturdays from Beijing). Originally to start operations last May, it was canceled a few days prior to launch until reservations reopened in mid-July. Schedule:

J2067 GYD1515 – 0115+1PEK 767 25
J2068 PEK0545 – 1045GYD 767 36

Also, Azerbaijan Airlines has increased capacity on its twice-weekly service between Baku and Prague, in which the aircraft type has been swapped from an A320 to a B757 on its Monday service. This will only take effect during the month of August. Schedule:

J2109 GYD0950 – 1055PRG 757 1
J2109 GYD1855 – 2000PRG 757 5

J2110 PRG1240 – 1935GYD 757 1
J2110 PRG2145 – 0440+1GYD 320 5

Are those 3 giant things to the left side of the U/C terminal in the aerial jetbridge fixtures?

I guess so. As seen in the picture, there are three of them on both sides of the terminal. In fact, according to some sources there will be 8 to 13 gates in the new terminal.

I hope that they build a second and a third identical terminal in the near future in addition to the currently constructed terminal, because in the not so distant future with a booming economy and growing passenger numbers and demand, the new terminal will also surpass the designated annual passenger capacity of 3 million, along with the old terminal which is being transformed into a domestic terminal.
