BIRMINGHAM | Regal Tower | 201m | 56 fl | App
A new tower has gone in for planning in Birmingham. It will be the city's tallest building, and the tallest building in the UK outside of London
![]() Architects are Aedas. ![]() ![]()

Actually 150 meters is considered a skyscraper.
What are the axctualy chances of this being built, it seems that nearly every regional cities planned 'scrapers have been scrapped.

It has gone in for approval. Reading the documents its very advanced with significant details being decided including the all important 106. Aedas being the architects is also another huge boost considering thier record. The plot of land has been vacant for sometime. It is due for completion in 2013. It is located next to one of Europes busiest indoor arenas so the hotel will certainly pay for itself. There is a winter garden on the 53rd floor

There is public consultation taking place in the city centre on the 14th October 2009 regarding this tower which is very encouraging, with a view to submitting the remainder of the planning application by the end of October. Cant wait to see models and stuff relating to this tower.

I love this building! I hope it's built. We need a building that stands out height-wise in Birmingham, all the skyscrapers here seem to be the same height.

And a serviced apartment operator has been signed. And with only three floors of apartments to market, they're hardly going to cause too much of trouble when it comes to constructing this.
![]() Apparently funding was secured but that's always a tetchy subject in times like this.

"Shocked" ..... or gutted??!
![]() This tower has come just at the right time, i.e. at the end of a recession .... unlike other tower proposals around the UK, including Manchestoh! This tower is great news for Birmingham, and hopefully will kickstart the other proposals that are on hold. |
