air traffic control

I got this idea from an existing thread. Anyway, one of the most important in landing is people working in the air traffic control. They are responsible of guiding pilot on safely landing the plane at their assigned airports.

Because of various languages, English is the universal language used in major countries. Pilots are now required to be fluent in the English language both speaking and understanding.

Those who fail these requirements can result to this.

The English accent doesn't matter as long it is clear and understandable.

An example

Here's the air traffic control in HKIA

How about in your city's/town's airport?

There was a recent incident at JFK where an ATC allowed his child to direct.

I'm an air traffic controller and find those american controllers joking around on the R/T very unprofessional. We are supposed to give an air of professionalism and confidence to pilots, esp. in non-visual environments, which I think too much joking around destroys.

Instructions issued by ATC are often critical and use of non-standard ICAO phraseology has wasted my time occasionally when I have to go back to an aircraft to confirm an instruction.
