Sounds like someone attempting to be smart, but missing the mark completely. It's not an accurate assessment.

Of course it isn't an accurate assessment, the entire wit was built on stereotypes. But it's unfortunate you weren't able to see the humour in it.

That's considered humourous? Some people make you laugh, others bore you to death. It's unfortunate, I suppose, in that his attempt at wit has made me sleepy.

cool down both of you, be happy you don't live in the established fool old world!

Canada is cool, no matter what and I like their laid-back attitude and their unique joie de vivre that is missing in USA or UK.

During my this last trip and visiting 3 cities, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal I just learned one thing that Canada is such a diverse nation and place to live, that if you get bored of one city, just move to an other and you ll be living in a whole different world for a few months or years perhaps and one doesn't really need to leave Canada to experience USA or Europe or Asia. It is all out there, beautifully merged and woven and all is well out there.

The moment I got into the airplane for my flight back home, I noticed everybody's face was showing anything but emotions and all looked like zombies and I was apparantely the only one amongst them that was ALIVE!

Oh btw, one of the best hairdressers in the entire world is located in Toronto and I just experienced her hands and talents! She should teach her European counterparts as I told her and gaver her a $ 100,- tip as to thank and encourage her. Can't wait to see her again.

I am not sure if that hair gel is ever tested on my hair, so I skip that special lotion of yours. A massage using REAL OIL will be better.

I suppose Vid has been behaving badly elsewhere too??!! LOL

Obviously I am not the only one who does bahave badly at times huh?! ... hmmmm... it is good to spice it all up here at times. Being away for a few days, I noticed SCC was less exciting. (I got my iPhone and could read the messages sent to my mailbox though!)

Not really the right place for this, but ...

How young Canadians and Americans are different

Young Canadians are dramatically different from young Americans, a new cross-border survey has found.

Canadians between 18 and 34 travel more, recycle more, play the lottery more, are less likely to marry, text-message less and are more likely to rent their homes than their American counterparts, the Ipsos Reid study revealed.

"Americans come through as a little more grounded, more domestic. Canadians are more of the free-spirit type," Samantha McAra, a 26-year-old senior research manager in Calgary with the polling company, said Friday.

"My friends and I, we're renting, not married, have careers, like to travel. The environment thing, too. If someone doesn't recycle, it's sort of like you look at that person and they're sort of judged."

McAra wrote the questions for the survey, which asked 1,000 people on each side of the border to respond online. The traditional telephone poll wouldn't work for a demographic in which 34 per cent of Americans and 19 per cent of Canadians only have a cellphone, she said.

McAra may be smack in the middle of the "emerging market group," as she calls it, but even she was baffled by some of the 10 social networking groups on the final list, sites such as imeem.com and ning.com. But even they had six and three people registered, respectively, among those polled.

Facebook is the social networking site of choice for Canadians, at 81 per cent registered, compared to 57 per cent for Americans. In the U.S., 54 per cent are signed onto MySpace, compared with 23 per cent of young Canadians.

Companies are increasingly interested in the 18-to-34-year-olds, McAra said, because they have healthy incomes and the urge to acquire; baby boomers, on the other hand, have the incomes but not as strong a need to spend.

Among the findings in the 18-to-34 group:

Canadians sent an average 78.7 text messages a week; Americans send 129.6.

73 per cent of Canadians rated the environment as important compared to 61 per cent of Americans.

88 per cent of Canadians actively recycle compared to 72 per cent of Americans.

44 per cent of Canadians rated terrorism as important compared to 65 per cent of Americans.

25 per cent of Canadians are married and 18 per cent are living together, compared to 39 per cent of Americans married and 7 per cent living together.

35 per cent of Canadians own their own home compared with 45 per cent of Americans

48 per cent of Canadians vacationed outside of Canada; 19 per cent of Americans vacationed out of the U.S.

44 per cent of Canadians and 37 per cent of Americans pay most often with debit cards.

80 per cent of Canadians have played the lottery in the past year compared with 63 per cent of Americans.

According to that poll, I'm more like an Yankee than a Canuck...

I own a home, I prefer travel within N. America, I don't use debit card, I don't play lottery and I don't use facebook. SSC is the only site I use for chatting.

"Canadians sent an average 78.7 text messages a week; Americans send 129.6."

<<< I find this difficult to believe. Do people have a phobia about talking on the phone? I think I average about one text message per week. Voice contact has always worked better for me.

hahahaha, that makes the two of us YF. excpet for me using Facebook and do some text messaging when I don't like to call or be called ONLY! just when necessary.

SCC is a good place for us to learn and exchange our love for architecture and cities. So, that is why I am here.

Am I a Canuk or a Yankee???
