Just ignore him. He is one of those hardcore "conservatives" who trolls around time to time by spewing stupid crap.

I know Google has been collecting lots of store/restaurant interior "Street View" imagery over the past couple years but now I'm see lots of the imagery available on Google maps. Is this a recent release of images or have I just not noticed?
A few examples: Pike Place Market: http://goo.gl/maps/gm4n Blue Moon Burgers menu board in SLU: http://goo.gl/maps/Lel8 Lottie's Lounge in Columbia City: http://goo.gl/maps/kJVI |

Seattle Parks considering allowing a private company to operate a zip line in Lincoln Park.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...ipline04m.html Locals aren't happy (duh), any opinions here?

That would be fun.
I walked by the ferris wheel today. Guessing 150 people in line. It's a holiday but no cruise ships....guessing a similar line on weekends? |

I hadn't heard of this thing until "news from zip line flesh eating bacteria," and I'm confident our city will make certain there is none of that. Sounds like an excellent attraction wait in line for on a nice day in Seattle.

The Uptight Seattleite strikes again.
They live in fear that someone might be having a good time and some laughs, rather than worrying about the state of the world..... |

This is exactly how I feel about some of our fellow Seattleites.

Seattle is a Global City
Interesting. Apparently we're right in the middle (for global cities, that is) - pretty far below Vancouver, but far ahead of Portland (who didn't even beat Cincinnati - pick up your feet, Portland!). We're just edging out Abu Dhabi, and just behind Riyadh and Oslo.
We don't even rank in the top 66 Global Cities Index, but we're #29 worldwide on the Competitiveness Index (take that, Phili). Vancouver makes it on the Global Power City Index, but we don't (hey, there's only 25 spots - good work Van). |

Oh god, not that GAWC crap again. It measures whether a small subset of multinationals (accounting and whatever else) have offices in a city. It has little or nothing to do with tourism, headquarters, cultural impact, or anything else.
All that is fine if you're measuring a city's connectivity to "the global network" or however they word it. But it's often misused (including by the Stranger) as meaning something larger about what cities have standing in the world. |

I love(d) Almost Live but if this really is being revived they do need a significant injection of talent under 35 years of age. The old-timers can still be good but come on! |

Almost Live was a classic! I agree though, bring in some younger local talent. Joel McHale and Anna Farris? Now that would be sweet.
bgwah, Kube 93 is terrible. I love hip hop, but what Kube 93 plays is insulting to my ears. Who the flying F*** decided autotune made for good music??? It's an abomination to music.

I really get around downtown now that we have Google streetview, and I get to spot all the things that you guys observe and I just walked right by for decades. The Bank of America branch smack in the middle of Westlake. Now I see what you mean. So, here's a question: say BofA gets some civic pride and moves the abomination to the burbs where it belongs. You're the guy who has the final say: what would you do with the site?

Build to max allowable height, 500', a mixed use development with retail at the base and housing above that. I'd insist on a bold modern design- kinda in the vein of the failed Heron and Pagoda towers.

I'd love that tower to be taller than 650' to help balance Seattle skyline since it looks like "stairs" from Alki Beach. Of course it has to have unique rooftop design not flat like most Seattle skyscrapers.
