Another generalization, then: Seattleites LOVE to get offended on behalf of other people.

That "Uptight Seattleite" column in The Stranger is so dead on sometimes.

What is up with that anyways? Why are they there? I know a few of my friends are going to some football game. Are the sons of Will Smith and Gretzky on the opposing team? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's Skyline that's playing against them.

The Phoenix Coyotes are playing a pre-season game in Everett on Tuesday (got my tickets!). Wayne Gretzky is their coach. Hence why he is here.

Which brings me to the subject of hockey in the puget sound region. The NHL is doing a couple market tester games with teams that could be up for movement/sale in the near future (Pre-season game at the Sprint Center in Kansas City as well). Those of you SSC posters that are hockey fans I'm sure are quite familiar with the mess surrounding the Phoenix Coyotes at the moment: (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4483350). Had we gotten some sort of arena deal worked out, this could have been considered a test drive of a transplanted franchise.

Yeah, their sons are playing for Skyline's opponent.

Also, if you were not aware, the puget sound region now has a professional lacrosse team. They are the transplanted San Jose Stealth (Now the Washington Stealth). They will be playing out of the Everett Events center. If you've never seen a lacrosse game before, they are stonking fun.

meku: Zara will start selling their clothes online next year (euro countries first though...). And I'm sure once it's online store is open to Americans, they'll use that data to analyze where to open up their next shops.

City quiz

Does anyone know what today's banner city is? Strangely, there's no identification the way there usually is.

I found out about it by looking at the comments below. Had no idea there was anything like that in Paris.

Anyone in the U-district area notice a somewhat loud humming sound the past couple of nights? Is there construction going on I5 or something?

There's been re-surfacing going on all year. They aren't re-paving, but grinding down the concrete roadway to make a smoother surface. Actually working pretty well, but still very patchwork. Tho last time I saw, they were working mostly in northgate-130th street area.

See... sometimes a death penalty is justified. Here's a few bad pups that need to be euthanized as soon as possible:

We should have something like that every Friday. Just the tonic the country needs, a good old volcano of irateness and indignation.
