Just like WDW, Universal Orlando doesn't yet have a contruction & projects thread. Now it will with this proposed expansion of the Islands of Adventure Theme Park.

Harry Potter attraction details announcedTampa Bay Business Journal - by Richard Bilbao Orlando Business Journal

Universal Studios Orlando announced Tuesday that its new Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open in spring 2010.

According to a Webcast, the new addition to Universal’s Islands of Adventures will consist of three attractions, including the “Dragon Challenge” rollercoaster, which features two high-speed rollercoasters.

Other attractions include the “Flight of the Hippogriff,” a family coaster, and “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey,” a state-of-the-art attraction located within the recreated Hogwarts Castle. Details on the "Forbidden Journey" attraction have not been released yet.

In addition, surrounding retail and dining areas will take on identities from the popular book series including locations such as Hogsmeade, Three Broomsticks and Ollivanders.

“All of the action and adventures of Harry Potter’s world will come to life here at Universal Orlando Resort. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be unlike any other experience on earth, and we can’t wait to see the looks on our guests’ faces as they enter this rich environment,” said Tom Williams, chairman and CEO, Universal Parks and Resorts, in a prepared statement.

They are saying April 9th is the tentative soft opening date for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

I just saw the commercial for "Harry Potter" on t.v. for the first time yesterday and it looks like it will certainly be an awesome experience.

The Wizarding World's scenic atmosphere looks awesome, and the park will be a huge hit with the fans; That being said as, a thrill seeker, the only thing that I'm intrigued with there is the Forbidden Journey. All of the other rides are redos (Dragons Challenge FKA Dueling Dragons, and the coaster the used to be the Flying Unicorn). Concerning those coasters, so much for the phrase "If it aint broke, don't fix it".

Universal is really taking charge with their ride technology. I was so impressed by the Mummy ride when that first opened.

what are they going to build on that tract along Turkey Lake? its been a construction site for 2 years now, and someone the other day told me about some redicential development going up next to Universal, but there were vague as to where exactly. I thought a hotel was going there.
