Spectacular
Those views were like the ones I saw when I flew into NYC for the first time. What a great way to enter the city (unlike taking Amtrak, for one), and what an impression -- I don't think any other city could possibly match the awesomeness, except perhaps Hong Kong.
I still regret not having filmed the view, as I brought both my camcorder and camera onto the plane. The weather and visibility were perfect on that day. My plane flew along the entire N-S length of the island and turned right to spectacular views of Long Island Sound before making a complete U-turn to land. Once I looked out the window for the first time, I just couldn't bring myself to turn away to set up my equipment...the scenery flew by so quickly, and I didn't want to miss anything. If I have another such opportunity (I last visited in August amidst a foul storm), there's no doubt I would capture it all and share the wealth... This is, without a doubt, the greatest thread on any message board anywhere on the internet.

All the haters who think Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Paris, or Sao Paulo have something on New York need to spend some serious, quality time educating yourselves with this thread. Each page takes me about a half hour to go through and I have already gone through this thread several times. It helps me relax at the end of a long day.

lets face it, New York will always be a more mature experienced and natural looking city than any other can hope to be.
