I'm sorry, I'm no fan of "post card" city. Yes, there are many aesthetically beautiful sites too in Manila. Unfortunately, this is what the residents and the politicians did to Manila. Ask any old Manileņo from Sampaloc to Malate and they'll say the same thing...ganito kami kaganda noon, bakit nyo pinabayaan ngayon?

Now, if we do not like to see Manila as this and make it again as another European clean city, then better start shoving the politician's asses with what they are doing. Intramuros alone isn't easy to handle for example--the informal settlers have their "protectors" and the IA simply couldn't just do it alone.

Yet, I don't lose hope for Manila.
I don't agree with sugar coating, too.

What balance? As according to your suggestion? Well, we're democratic. I still believe in the thing called "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder." What may be trash for you may be a treasure for some.

Do you find the Quiapo pix ugly? I don't see it as such. Do I see manong bumbero cleaning up Plaza Goiti as ugly? I don't think so. The traffic congestion going to Binondo? Nah. Because that is really Manila!

What we are posting here is what Manila is...I prefer to post her raw awesomeness, with no vetsin on the side. Au naturele.

We'll also take on the "good side" of Manila--as based on your standards. But we too have our own definition of "beauty"--and I define it as "natural."

It looks like whitesands at far but i still wouldn't suggest anyone to swim in Manila bay. It's full human and industrial waste. People might mutate and acquire supernatural powers if they bathe there .

If that's the case, then I might as well bathe there over the weekend.

Ok since some people are complaining why we keep posting bad news in this thread, here are some good news. Mayor Lim has announced that beginning jan 2011, all pedicabs and kuligligs will be banned from manila. Also last night on tv Mayor Lim has ordered all police commanders of mpd to drive away and banned street vendors from manila as they are eye sores and one f the major causes of garbage on the streets. Hope this comes true not one of those fantasy of the Lims admin.

Great news! I hope he can do it. Man, those pedicabs a big problem indeed. Grabe if he can drive them away together with the street vendors, I will re-elect him everytime until he passes away. Hehe..

I have a feeling that's a good idea. I'm no pro-Atienza, but Manila needs new blood.

Surprisingly, malapit sa kulay puti (o gray) yung buhangin, beyond the retaining wall. Yung malapit sa US embassy. I was expecting it to be black.

Wait a minute--does this mean that the prewar Admiral Apartment building will be demolished? Sorry for sounding so out-of-touch, but since I'm not there, I have no clue as to the extent of this project.
