I hate it when some sidewalks / pavements are used for parking when it is supposed to be for people to walk in.

along Roxas Blvd, there are really parking spaces along side with the sidewalk and the boulevard itself, walang nagpaparking jan sa side walk sa Roxas Blvd, magkahiwalay ang parking spaces sa side walk jan ...

Great pictures BTW RonnieR ...

Diba when you say primate, its a mammals like monkeys, apes and humans.. or could be high priest or leader...

Maybe you're referring to "prime city"

Primate city is the term used to describe cities that are considered leading in the country across all aspects from political to economic. Another indicator is the great level of disparity in development as compared to the remaining cities in the country. Like Metro Manila for instance.

Bangkok, KL, London, Paris, Copenhagen, Buenos Aires and Mexico City are all considered primate cities.

If ever the whole of Metro Manila be made the capital of the Philippines, and another government (say governor, vice governor, etc) will be established to lead the MM's 16 cities and 1 municipality, would the mayors and other officials agree to this?; that is my concern, I know siguradong ayaw na ayaw nila, though it would be fine to already make the whole region as the capital since national government offices, embassies are already scattered at different cities, and commerce and trade are no longer centered in the Main City of Manila.

Mexico City is becoming less of a primate city since Guadalajara is also as important in terms of economy and even culture.

Cebu on the other hand is also getting a great amount of development as well so Metro Manila is less becoming a primate city.

Just like Osaka's contribution to Japan's economy, culture and trade.

I would not even considered Manila as the main city especially in today's Metro Manila.

Cities such as Makati, Mandaluyong or Quezon City also deserves such title as well.

The chairman of The MMDA is supposed to be the governor of Metro Manila but some cities do not agree with its policies.

In the future maybe but current status denotes they are still primate cities.

I am amazed with its interior when I attended a mass here at St. Sebastian before our exam. I keep on looking at its ceilings, walls and decorations during the mass

That's what I thought too, that the MMDA chairman be assigned as the governor to lead the 17 LGUs of MM. Usually sumusuway sa mga policies ng MMDA ay Makati and Manila

even though Manila may not have the businesses/ trade and commerce as bustling as Makati and Quezon City as today, as long as it houses the central government, It will still be the capital of the Country. Security wise also, I think there is no other place in MM as highly secured as Malacañang. Its location is far from the high rises which would impose lesser risks from snipers/plots to kill the president. The Malacañang aerial territory also is not even the pathway of airplanes

Metro Manila is built as a conurbation where the city inside the region run independently, complete with its own mayor system, etc.

Honestly I prefer the setup of NY, Paris or Tokyo in Metro Manila where cities like Makati, Quezon City or Mandaluyong act as boroughs or arrondissements and current mayors are instead borough presidents.

Conurbation does not help for Metro Manila since instead of cooperation and unity, every city in Metro Manila are competing against each other to see which is the best.

This kind of setup works well for cities such as Los Angeles since LA is the political, economic and cultural centre for LA county. Other cities within LA county such as Beverly Hills, Santa Monica or Long Beach also has its influence but in a smaller scale.

This is not the case with Metro Manila.
