[QUOTE=1+1=3;62808843]Recent notable reconstruction in Prague: Malostranská beseda, building from 15th century, originally built as a city hall of Malá strana district. The issue were three towers on the top, which were added in 17th century and removed later in early 19th century due to statical reasons, the building was not able to carry them off. Now they decided to give them back during the complete reconstruction.

before

after
.

Now this is the kind of perfection I would love to see more of!!!! Some of the other restoration stuff on this page is completely appalling!!!

Not much different from the ways of doing such things in other countries.
Especially if the building is in decomposing state.
The only difference is we do not have the grandiose palaces for reconstruction

That fountain looked much more interesting in the decayed state than it does now... looks like a pastiche.

I like the surroundings and the idea, but those column capitels are just awful. When it comes to this I would suggest some more Disneyland - the fact that we don't know what they looked like doesn't mean we have to make sth that has nothing to do with Roman Architecture.
