Probably. The old ones however were already lost in the 19th century. Two bells from 1471 and 1488 were lost when the northern spire burned down in 1887, the other two from 1366 and 1471 were confiscated, maybe already in 1813.

I wish they would reconstruct parts of the interior too. The furnishings for example were partly lost in WW2, but also partly moved to other churches in Poland after the war.

Geez... They restoring this castle since 1950's years and still there is a lot to do - like chapel on High Castle, It will take many years to bring it's glory back(
Heard rumors it will be finished till 2014, hope that ugly concrete roof will be not a big problem):
Then:

...and now:

Not bad! Strzelin was unfortunately devastated by WWII but the town hall looks nice!

Yeah, it does look nice. Too bad those commie buildings seem to be littered all around it.

You are right - Lwowek, Olawa, Glubczyce, Bolesalwiec, Mirsk, Strzelin - very similar.

So here is the correct version.

Very nice.
It would be even better if they would reconstruct the facades of the whole square...maybe in time?

This one is to be continued : the reconstruction is still only at the planning stage, so maybe I should not mention it here, but I thought it was interesting.
The “Porte Guillaume” in Chartres (France) was one of the doors of the middle age city wall. It was destroyed by the Germans when they left the city in 1944.

Archeology digs where made in 2011, and the door should be rebuilt during the next years. According to the last news, they will start rebuilding it by 2014 or 2015 (I don’t know why so late, I thought the studies had already been carried out). Middle age building techniques should be used, as they did in Guédelon Castle.

Before and after WWII :

To block vehicle access to the bridge would be my guess. The soldiers who blew it up probably lacked the training or the time to properly demolish the bridge itself.

A tragic loss to be sure but not quite so senseless as some other examples.

I'm glad to see that this wrong will finally be righted

I'm impressed to see that they have chosen to do so! To reconstruct a gate house in that state is a big project. But it should be clear to everyone that it'll over time generate the value put into it, think of how beautiful it will get!

Vilnius. In the 50s and 60s the whole Jewish quarter was destroyed. Its XV-XVIII c. buildings were only a little bit damaged at war, but stood without roofs and windows just to be pulled down a decade later.

Part of the quarter as it looked after the war.

Only a little part was rebuild because of shortage of money.
Here it is. Rūdninkų-Ašmenos-Dysnų streets.

Unfortunately, Renaissance style the Great Synagogue, that was one of the biggest in the world, was also lost.

Before the war.

After the war. It is clearly seen, that the building survived the war with minor damage, but was torn down in the 60s by soviets

Before the demolition. Building stood there without care for almost two decades after the war, slowly disintegrating...

During the excavations.

It is still waiting to be rebuild.
