Let's go to Queenstown NZ!

Queenstown lies approximately three quarters of the way down South Island, New Zealand. We will get there by plane, leaving Auckland on an hour and a half flight. Please fasten your seat belts.

Welcome to Queenstown

Queenstown is the New Zealand destination for international visitors. Its natural beauty changes with the seasons, the lake gleans in the summer sun, and snow clad mountains tower above the township in winter. Queenstown is a great place to visit all year round. Nestled in beside the mysterious Lake Wakatipu, in the Southern Lakes district of New Zealand, Queenstown is a cosmopolitan haven, offering a limitless adventure, southern wine and cuisine, and breathtaking alpine scenery.

Queenstown is also known as the Adventure Capital of the World as there is just so much to do

Neat thread. I feel like Im on holidays already!

Some observations- Auckland airport seemed very quiet, and you got on the plane first!

Also where's all the snow in ZQN? I'd have assumed there would be more on the mountains, it is only just the start of spring after all.

And yes Queenstown is special, some fantastic accommodation options down there as well. Was it warm?

Glad you guys had a great time, I look forward to seeing more.

Thanks Milan. We left pretty early in the morning, and the flight was full, so there was quite a bit of activity. There was still snow on the all the ski-fields but a lot had melted as we head towards summer It was abut 15 - 16 degrees for the three days we were there. Sunny all the time and just a little chilly at night.

To the Town centre

Queenstown is nestled alongside Lake Wakatipu which is the second largest lake in the Southern Lakes District, covering 290 square km. At its widest point it is five kilometers wide, and the total length is 84km. Lake Wakatipu has an unusual rhythmic rise and fall in water level, roughly about 12 cm every five minutes. The lake occupies a single, glacier-carved trench and is bordered on all sides by tall mountains, the highest of which is Mount Earnslaw (2819 metres).

The Town Centre is compact and confined to the lower level area while the apartments and houses rise above the Town on the mountain slopes.

When I was leaving in London, one of my English teachers (a Kiwi one) told me about this town. I loved it! Very calm and pleasant with many attractions at the same time!

Queenstown is amazingly tranquil, but not so that one gets bored.

Beautiful! Reminds me of the northern states of USA, and a bit of Norway too!
