This thread is Solely dedicated to the Construction of the Route National 1 ( or National Hiway 1).

This Hiway is a 4 lane Hiway and will sthreach from MUANDA ( Atlantic Ocean) to SANKANIA.

It will stretch more than 2000 Kms.

Chinese Company CREC, Congolese Company Office des Routes and French Company SOGEA SATOM.

The construction is included in the Chinese 6 Billion deal.

Progress of the work of rehabilitation of the section Lufimi-Kawango on RN 1. Thursday 16 April 2009, updated on Tuesday 14 April 2009

On 22 May 2008, the President of the Republic, Joseph Kabila, was formally launched the rehabilitation of the section-LUFIMI Kwango on National Route No. 1. Since then, the work that run by the French company SOGEA SATOM evolve normally. So Monday 13 April the coordinator for the visibility of the five sites, Mr. Jean-Marie KASSAMBA and the President of PAREC, Pastor Mulunda NGOI led a delegation of journalists and staff PAREC. The objective was to report on the progress of work.

The work involves the construction of a road that no longer existed. For Nicolas Morin, director of work SATOM SOGEA, "the principle of work is first to make a cement, a mixture of cement and sand, it is innovation. Then it will rebuild the platform before placing the asphalt. Finally comes the clean side of the road with all the horizontal and vertical by European standards, "he said. All for a shot estimated at nearly 40 million, financed by the European Development Fund (EDF).

To combat the effects of the water is a corrosive element, the new route was high compared to the old and SOGEA SATOM is also planting VETI green, Bandundu plant well known for their ability to fight against effects of heavy rain.

At the end of the work planned in February 2010, SOGEA SATOM ensure maintenance of the road for a year before returning permanently to the state responsible for the cleanup of roads.

Nice to see that infrastructure is improving...If they are doing with 4 lane for the whole length, this is even better. Do you now anything about a road from Kinshasa to Goma? AFAIK the only way to reach Goma from Kinshasa is by air...

There is one from BUKAVU to MBUJI-MAYI(The Blue lane) then to KINSHASA.

I don't have anything against S Africans. i think people get me wrong how i speak. it's all good.

It was just a debate that went wrong. i have lots of white South african friends in California.
