I went past PVNR Expressway and here are my findings..
1. They are constructing ramps at couple of places near Katedhan, Rethibowli, near musi bridge.
2. Central lighting work looks complete from Masabtank - Musi
3. Finishing work in progress from Masab Tank - Musi
4. Work in progress near Katedhan and may take time as they are too many curves (ones marked in red)

Expressway to be open to traffic on October 2

Staff Reporter
Three up and down ramps connecting the expressway would be ready shortly

HYDERABAD: The main P.V. Elevated Expressway from Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital to Aramgarh junction would be opened to traffic on October 2. However, the three up and down ramps connecting the expressway would be ready shortly.

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy who inspected the project on Wednesday said the work was in progress to meet the October deadline though the ramps were unlikely to be ready by then. Similarly, the first two phases of Outer Ring Road (ORR) comprising 80 kms would be completed by May 2010, he said. For the 11.6 km long expressway work taken up by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) , all the 328 foundations were completed and 312 of the 327 spans were also in place.

While the other components like ‘trumpet interchange’ and ‘underpass’ were already in use, the inner ring road from Rethibowli to Aramgarh junction, to be strengthened and widened to six lanes, was almost halfway through, officials said.

Speedway to airport on Oct. 2
By By Our Correspondent Jul 23 2009 Hyderabad
July 22: The P.V. Narasimha Rao elevated expressway will be thrown open to traffic on October 2.
The state government has asked the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority to complete pending works as early as possible so that the expressway could be opened on schedule.

The minister for municipal administration, Mr Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, inspected the works and expressed satisfaction at the progress and said the government would not allow further delay in the execution of the project. “The expressway will provide better connectivity to Shamshabad international airport and Bengaluru Highway. The project would enhance the reputation of the government since it is the longest flyover in the country,” the minister said.
The minister added that ramps will be provided to enter and exit the elevated corridor at Rethibowli, Upperpally and Aramghar junctions.

P.V. Expressway to be ready by Oct. 2

T. Lalith Singh
HYDERABAD: The main structure of the P.V. Elevated Expressway, the longest such facility in the country promising uninterrupted traffic movement between the city and the Shamshabad airport, would be ready by October 2. Six ramps offering provision for the traffic to join the expressway at different points or climb down, however, would be ready only next year.

According to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), the main structure was almost reaching completion and the finishing works on the 11.66 km long stretch were taken up simultaneously. These include tasks such as median works, bituminous concrete works, lighting and signage on the elevated corridor from S.D. Eye Hospital to Aramgarh Junction.

Launched in ’06: The four-lane 17.2 metre wide corridor divided carriageway taken up with a contract value of Rs.439 crore commenced in September 2006 and uses modern segmental construction method with heavy machinery. As a part of this, the segments are pre-cast, transported to the site and launched using girders. Sitting on 328 foundations and 328 piers, it has 327 spans and will be joined with three pairs of intermediate up and down ramps at Rethibowli, Upperpally and Aramgarh Junction.

The ramp work would be delayed for a few months and the HMDA officials hope to get three of them, one up ramp at Laxminagar for traffic from Toli Chowki and Gachibowli side, and another at Aramgarh junction for those coming from Chandrayangutta side apart from a down ramp at Upperpally for those coming from the airport side, ready by February 2010. The other three complementing ramps have been stalled for want of shifting of pipelines and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) had been addressed on the issue. “These pipelines are coming at alignment point and we have paid the necessary funds to the HMWSSB for the work. They are in the process of calling tenders and once that is taken care, the rest of the work will be taken up,” said HMDA Chief Engineer Vivek Deshmukh.
October 2.

Cool! I thought it might taken 2011 to finish this flyover. Thanks to economic downturn and crash in commodity markets which have brought steel and cement prices to sane levels.

Noise barriers for expressway

Staff Reporter
They are aimed at checking decibel levels from traffic
Will keep residential colonies away from noise pollution due to vehicles
Elevated corridor to have view cutters for safety and security reasons

HYDERABAD: Getting ready to open for traffic and offer smooth ride for those commuting between the city and international airport at Shamshabad by October 2, the impervious P.V. Elevated Expressway will sport one more new feature, noise barriers.

Supply: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) which is behind the project has already called for expression of interest for the design, supply and installation of noise barriers on the expressway, which at 11.6 km length and connecting S.D. Eye Hospital with Aramgarh Junction, will be the country’s longest elevated one.

These barriers are aimed at checking the noise levels emanating from vehicular movement at key junctions and thereby make the project more environmentally friendly.

This also is expected to keep those living in several of residential colonies close to the expressway away from noise pollution due to vehicles.

HMDA has asked interested agencies in taking up the work of installing barriers to submit details including a technical concept on nature of noise barriers, material proposed to be used and expected reduction in noise levels.

The proposal for barriers has worked out few busy junctions including Mehdipatnam, Rethibowli, and Aramgarh Junction.

The elevated corridor too will have view cutters in certain stretches of curves and straight portions for safety and security reasons.

The security aspect of the proposal for which expression of interest has also been called by HMDA includes setting up barriers in such a way that a view of stretches of defence area that fall alongside the elevated expressway corridor is blocked.

Builders, flats in airport vicinity likely to get NOC
By By Our Correspondent Aug 20 2009 Hyderabad

Aug. 19: Builders and flat owners of various apartments and complexes constructed in the 20-km radius of Begumpet airport have something to cheer about at last.

The Airports Authority of India has expressed its willingness to give No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to applications submitted under Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS). Though the AAI usually gives NOC, duly following rules, before the construction of the building, in this case it has decided to treat it as a special case and issue NOCs to all eligible cases under BPS, as the State government and High Court have given the green signal to the scheme.
The AAI officials in Begumpet can issue a NOC within six weeks from the date of submission of the application.

There are over 1,500 applications of high-rise buildings that require a NOC from Airports Authority of India and the Fire Services wing of the State government. Though a NOC has to be obtained before construction of a building in 20-km radius of Begumpet airport, a majority of applicants under BPS had not obtained one. When contacted, Begumpet airport director, Mr R.K. Singla confirmed that their officials have discussed the BPS issue with the GHMC. “We have decided to consult our headquarters and start issuing NOCs to all eligible applicants. There are different sorts of height restrictions for buildings that come up within 20-km radius of airport,” he said.
