New Bus Terminal to come up off the Karur Byepass Road near Lakkapuram(after Solar) in a total land area of 52acres owned by the Corporation...

The sketch, plan, layout and map, everything is being prepared and sent to the S.G as well as to the Country & Town planning Dept....

It will have an occupiable capacity of about 250 buses..... Initially, it will handle the South bound buses... And once the Ring Road project is completed, it will handle TUP, CBE, POY, UDT buses also.

The news said by District Collector of Erode, in a meeting with Corporation Officials, Road traffic personals and Road & Transport dept officials, on Friday(02.09.2011)........ Same news published on the 17th page of Daily thanthi (03.09.2011)

Lets hope, it will get started as soon as possible, to see a traffic-less and aligned city..........
Hope this time it starts and gets completed fast. City traffic inside Erode city really sucks

Texvalley - Detailed Project Plan & Design

Designed for encouraging the growing powerloom & handloom industries in the rich textile belt of Erode, Texvalley is a bold initiative by the Ministry of Textiles to put up an integrated state of the art complex for marketing & purchasing of textile products. Situated strategically at the edge of the Erode city along the national highway, the project provides an ideal platform to the local vendors, manufacturers, suppliers to showcase their products to national & international buyers.

The project comprises of three major blocks, namely the weekly market, the trade fair complex & the super mart building.

The design evolved from the dynamics of the site & the functional aspects of the program which demanded an axial planning & hierarchy in spaces within & outside the buildings. The geometry of the Meenakshi Temple is highlighted into the design planning, resulting into interflow of open spaces into the built forms. The three blocks are woven along a strong longitudinal axis which constitutes a pedestrian movement at an elevated level along with a parallel vehicular movement at the ground level. The pedestrian axis starts with an entrance plaza to the weekly market, elevates further to a floor height overlooking into the split levels within the weekly market before terminating into the central open elevated plaza.

The plaza has a series of water fountains & green terraces to facilitate a cool breeze movement into the buildings placed along. On one side the plaza opens down into the central green landscape, carved out from the natural rock formation resulting into free-flowing walkways around kiosks & water bodies, while on the other two sides it flows into the Super mart building & the trade fair complex.

The Weekly market evolves from an exciting building section of multiple split levels overlooking into the series of courtyards running parallel to the corridors. The building visibly is a see-through volume horizontally as well vertically & garners diffused light from the dynamic tensile roof form. The Trade Fair Complex sits perfectly between the weekly market & the Super mart building, primarily functioning as a convention cum exhibition centre stretched into double height volumes & open to sky atriums.

The building also has a restaurant & hotel facilities with guest rooms in the third tier with a roof top swimming pool, sun-deck & barbeque area. The Super mart building derives its design from traditional courtyard planning favorable for the hot & humid conditions. The building ascends from the N-E corner towards the S-W corner to create multiple-level green terraces, cutting upon the heat intake from the roof into the building. Use of shading devices such as vertical fins, overhead canopies & dead walls on the west / South west facades results into considerable amount of decrease in heat intake.
The other salient eco-friendly features of the building such as use of exposed concrete & brickwork thus minimalising the use of external plaster, use of fly ash bricks & AEC block masonry, use of local stone & materials for landscaping & site development, implementation of rain water harvesting & sewage treatment plant facilities for recharging & recycling of water, solar powered general lighting , etc have resulted in making the project a formidable sustainable habitat.

Design Team : Ar.Charanjit.S.Shah, Ar.Yatish Bafna, Ar Gaurav Bhargava & others.

Plan looks fantastic . Looks so huge and seems to require some 3000 to 4000 acres(i suppose). Do the govt have such a big piece of land? Will they implement it when the textile minister is in such a bad state?

If everything fall in place, this will be the icon of Erode than Turmeric..... In which stage is this Texvalley scheme??

good maps and find senthil.

Looks Narasiyur on NH 47 is located almost in center(though Perundurai is the perfect center for CBE and Salem) of Coimbatore-Tiruppur-Erode-Salem Industrial/Textile cluster.

Hope the project is geared up and also hope the environmental ministry doesn't ban the project since it falls on Bhavani-Cauvery basin.

In a bid to encourage students to develop the reading habit, Sakthidevi Charitable Trust has established a library with huge collection of books at Chithode Government Girls Higher Secondary School.

The library was established under the ‘Vazhikatti' programme being implemented by the trust.

A total of 18 government schools were being covered under the programme, which was aimed at helping students from poor families to come up in life.

Cine Actor Vivek inaugurated the library in the presence of Chief Educational Officer V. Kumar, BVB School Correspondent L.M. Ramakrishnan, P.C. Duraisamy and Santhi Duraisamy of Sakthi Masala Group of Companies and members of various organisations.
Mr. Vivek also launched a poster campaign to create awareness among students on the negative impacts of using plastic and polythene bags.

The trust would implement the campaign in all the government schools.

Posters carrying information on the ill-effects of polythene bags would be placed in all the government schools in the district.

“This will motivate students to avoid using polythene carry bags and encourage them to spread the awareness in their neighbourhood,” Mr. Kumar said.

Mr. Vivek also launched the distribution of saplings to members of the general public.

The trust had planned to give over saplings free of cost to all the interested persons.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vivek called upon the people to actively participate in the efforts to improve the green cover in the country.

People should realise the impacts of global warming and volunteer to protect Mother Nature, he stressed.

Earlier, the actor declared open a new building constructed at the Sakthi Special School for the mentally-challenged persons.
