Work on the Via Parque Rimac is in full swing, and the route is now posted on GoogleMaps (the route isn't visible until you zoom in fairly closely-- this link is at the eastern end of the project, so you can follow it westward). The project seems to have evolved since it was first proposed (here's something I posted about it over two years ago)-- for one thing, there's no mention of the COSAC (busway) component, and there'll be ramps connecting to the PanAm Highway in such a way that traffic can use the new tunnel to bypass the interchanges that connect the PanAm to central Lima.

All info is from this thread in the Peruvian section

Here's an informative video:

and some pics. As you'll know from the video, the box you see in the construction photos isn't the tunnel-- it's a diversion channel for the river so that work can take place on the much wider and deeper tunnel box structure.

Under construction:

and when it's done:

An interesting project in Trujillo: An existing park now dominated by a busy traffic circle (Google Maps link) is being reconfigured to move the circle to the perimeter of the park, thereby increasing the park's usable area. A Y-shaped flyover will enable traffic southbound on Av Mansiche or Av Nicolas de Pierola to avoid taking the long way around the circle and to bypass the at-grade intersection at the circle's eastern corner. The arc-shaped pedestrian bridge you see on Google Maps, which apparently was much despised by the locals, has been demolished. Here are models of the project:

Looking northwest

Info c/o this thread. There are some construction photos and vids, but it's too early for them to be very interesting as yet since construction started only a few months ago.

Another raid on the Peruvian forums: As described in this thread, a new project will add 32 interchanges to the three most important corridors connecting Lima to the rest of the nation. At first I thought that the project would result in continuous motorway-standard corridors passing completely through the urbanized area, but now I'm not so sure...

The work is apparently being done under the auspices of the city of Lima, but it'll be paid for by tolls, the roads in question being privately owned.

There are still two traffic lights at the Lima bypass (not part of these upgrades).

Indeed, and it seems rather illogical: surely eliminating the last remaining traffic lights would more than pay for itself through increased throughput and therefore increased tolls.

So the new expressways at Lima will be: Panamericana Norte; Panamericano Sur; Autopista Ramiro Prialé; Via Parque Rimac; and Via Expresa Sur. Also, there is supposed to be a tunnel at Avneida Javier Prado. There is also a project for a "Periférico Vial Norte", as well as an "Autopista Canta-Callao".
