I assume the keypad on some faregates is for personnel or emergency staff only?

Yes, indeed! Surely starting from tomorrow many will post here pictures from the opening. Only a clarification: this is the second section opened to public, not the third. The first one was Monte Compatri/Pantano - Parco di Centocelle, now we're going to opening Parco di Centocelle - Lodi.

If you're referring to the small keypad on the device that you see in in this picture of Jonio station, yes it is for staff use only. The device is part of the new mobile ticketing system.

From what I knew, the keypad was the "third" way to access the subway via mobile ticketing:

- NFC
- QR code
- PIN

But I see no info on that, only QR and NFC are now used.

While waiting for the pictures of the public opening of the new section of C line, here is a new experimental system of pavement sticker signs to get a better orientation while searching for the nearest subway entrance.

Enjoy!

Thanks, I corrected. In fact I'm happy to see new metro opening. Here is updated map on urbanrail.net:

Do you think they'll last for long?

How far apart is Lodi station from Re di Roma station on foot?

San Giovanni station of Line C will open in a year, during the first semester of 2016. I suppose in summer 2016.

According to GMaps, Re di Roma station is approximately 750 mt far apart from Lodi station (more or less the same distance to San Giovanni Line A), depending on which street you choose to take. So it's quite close to Lodi.

Would really like to return to Rome and film some of the new line myself! I only managed to get a few stations on line A and B last time.

Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino said Friday the city will be seeking private partners to buy a minority stake in ATAC public transport company. "Beginning today, the city, the region and ATAC commit to seeking an industrial partner while maintaining a majority public stake," the mayor said. The decision was taken jointly with Lazio Governor Nicola Zingaretti, the mayor said. "We've given ATAC a mandate to write up a strong and realistic industrial plan" in order to attract investors, he said, adding this will bring about "the end of in-house management beginning in 2019". Both the mayor and the governor are from the center-left Democratic Party of Premier Matteo Renzi.

Thanks to Kikko90 for finding the video.

Some pictures of Fori Imperiali station construction site I took about 10 days ago. Here is possible to notice that two cement containers which will be used by the hydromill machine have been raised: that means we are close to the beginning of works for the construction of the diaphragm walls.

Looking closely:

Other side of the construction site. As we can see, most of the temporary wall that had been built for working reasons has been cut down from several weeks; all that remains now is only a very small portion, here hidden by the scaffolding:

General Overview of the construction site from above. It is possible to notice that near the two raised containers there are some others lying on the ground, waiting to be positioned.

By zooming, that can be seen even better. Keep in mind that these pics date back to 10 days ago: now all the containers have been raised, other users reports to have seen a total 8 of them raised. So definitely works for the diaphragms should start in a short time.

So works are progressing very well. More pictures as soon as there will be news.

Rome airport express trains enter service
Friday, October 02, 2015

NEW trains were introduced on Rome's Leonardo Express airport rail link on October 2, whe Italy's transport minister Mr Graziano Delrio, Lazio regional president Mr Nicola Zingaretti and Italian State Railways (FS) CEO Mr Michele Mario Elia offically launched a dedicated fleet of eight Alstom Jazz EMUs on the service between Rome Termini and Fiumicino Airport

The five-car trains were ordered in November 2012 and assembled at Alstom's Savigliano plant in northern Italy. The 160km/h EMUs are similar to the Jazz sets being supplied in large numbers to Trenitalia for regional services, but are equipped with larger luggage racks and carry the red, white and green Leonardo Express livery

Actually the offer from Fiumicino Airport to the city with both Leonardo Express and FL1 is getting more and more appealing.
I hope they also can make a full renovation of Fiumicino Airport train station, actually quite old and rusty.

Just opened a new Thread on the History of Roman mobility infrastructures.
I'm sorry because it's only in Italian language, but if you have any question, I'm quite sure you will get answers.

Enjoy!
