I was born and live in Milan....The really bad choice was been to open two Apple Store outside the town (carosello and fiordaliso). They are very umconfortable and inconvenient !! Many tourists come to Milan and visit the fashion shops in the center and....they don't find Apple !!
There are surely the great problem for Apple: the location in the center are too expensive , and Apple in the past lost more than one contest for these !!

Glass, waterfalls and culture: one of world's largest Apple stores set to open in Milan

The world's fashion capital will have a new Apple store in the historic center. Apple announced that the store will be built just a few steps from the majestic Milan Cathedral. The area chosen to display and sell the Apple’s latest products is a square surrounded by buildings decorated in the art deco style. A big glass and steel cube, with waterfalls, will be standing in the middle of the square as the main access to the store which will be actually developed underground. The area underneath the square is now occupied by a historical cinema.

Liberty Apple Store | new Apple store in Milan (Italy)

Apple's founder, Steve Jobs, had a dream: open an Apple megastore within the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Over the years, things have changed, but the idea to build an "house" in the heart of the fashion capital never vanished. Now that dream is at a turning point: Apple Piazza del Liberty is expected to become one of the world's most prestigious megastores.

This is not the first official store that opens in Milan, but differently than others, it will be characterized by a strong iconicity and will unify the technological innovation with the Italian culture and Milan's glamour. "The store will have an incredible design, and it will be a symbol of appreciation of Italian culture" said Apple CEO, Tim Cook, in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

The entrance should be facilitated by a wide flight of steps, so large that will occupy almost the entire width of the square. The steps will lead visitors up to 8 metres below ground level. It will be impossible for passersby not to notice the shop and not be attracted to get off. The scenic effect will be made even more important with the installation of a block crystal tall 7 meters surrounded by a sort of waterfalls.

Even the passers-by Corso Vittorio Emanuele, starting from the Piazza Duomo (Cathedral) will be able to see the waterfalls and become curious. Reaching the below ground, visitors can look up and watch the water fall from the top.

The store will host events related to the world of cinema (and not only) in memory of the historic Apollo Cinema: the glass walls could be used as large-scale screens to entertain the people passing through the square.

The structure was designed by archistar Norman Foster and, to a limited extent, will have the same importance of the crystal cube of New York City. The most recent meeting was held this week, and Apple has finally got the go-ahead for the construction of this new store.
