Wembley Park £3.4bn Regeneration | Brent | U/C

As there is no thread for the big regeneration of the wembley area, i have started one.

The regeneration is 42 acres.

Does anyone have any pictures of the regeneration they could post?

There's more info. on Brent Council's site,
and on the Wembley page of Wikipedia (but that also needs a lot of stuff added, if anyone isn't doing anything...)

I hate overgrown stuff on Railway Tracks, looks messy. Either clear it or make it a proper mini-meadow feature (must tick a few 'green boxes')

The wider Wembley regeneration area;

Within that the area around the stadium known as the Quintain Stage 1 site masterplanned by Richard Rogers;

http://www.wembleycity.co.uk/ this has renders of some of the residential buildings planned for the masterplan sites.

A pair of towers is planned as a focal point for Olympic Way;

Wembley Central Square on the High St is nearing completion;

Also recently completed is this block on Elm Road;

Planning permission was granted in 2006 for this tower on the site of Copland School on the High Street;

Karma House on Olympic Way also has PP;

Currently going through planning are Schubette House on Olympic Way;

This render shows the proximity of Schubette House and Karma House;

Chesterfield House on the High Street;

Wider massing view incuding Copland School tower and the High Street;

Crescent House for the College of North West London also on Olympic Way right opposite Wembly Park Station;

Nearby is CZWG's student accomodation tower that recently won PP on appeal;

In the masterplan just opposite Wembly Arena (large block 1 bottom right) Michael Hopkins recently won a competition to design a new Civic HQ for Brent Local Authority.

Those twin gateway towers look dreadfully out of proportion compared to the stadium, perhaps its just a render inaccuracy or it would look rather unsettling.

Yes a bit of a mixed-bag N1. It would be helpful if Brent could commission a model/3d visualisation showing the actual proposal together. Incidently the local borough ward goes by the unusual name of Tokyngton. Never heard of it before - but it's there on the maps.

Further to the north of the borough near Colindale (so outside the masterplan area) this 17 floor proposal was recently (2009) granted permission for a site on Capitol Way near the Edgware Road. It's by Dunnett Craven architects http://www.london.gov.uk/mayor/plann...ay_report.pdf;

Could someone please post some pics of where they are up to with the flats near wembley arena, and the building on the site of the old wembley conference centre.

Thanks in advance.

I have to agree. there is a lot of hopscotch cladding- no variety in that respect
it also just seems a bit cheap in places, what looks good now may not look so good in 10 years time

If you're going to start a thread jack it would be helpful if you would do some research first and provide links to planning applications, newspaper articles and photos, etc, rather than make repeated requests for others to do the work.

The new Hilton Hotel proposal for Wembley;

Few nice buildings but LOTS of ugly dredful buildings too. What were they thinking putting up a 'green' coloured building in an iconic area?!

I actually find alot of the buildings going up around Wembley quiet interesting. Yes the green buildings a bit strange? but there is alot here that will definately lift the area architectually. It's just ashame the recession has slowed things down so much.

Those two towers down Wembley Way don't provide a focal point, they detract from the focal point that the Arch provides. Agree that a lot of the planned buildings look bad and the whole thing looks incoherent. Greenwich Peninsula is much better.
