Does anyone have any information regarding the date of construction starting? I think this project is between 5 and 10 years away...

I'm not sure...but the impression I'm getting is that they're looking at starting before then.

I really hope it turns out like that image above! The glass looks much better with that tint.

5 to 10 is a bit pessimistic. I'm thinking construction is likely to start early 2013

That would be great... But on a scale like this, and with many other large developments having already stalled, pessimistic seems realistic to me.

Guys just like the Old Mutual HQ and Village Walk I dont see this taking off in the next few years.

Its a bit frustrating because instead of having a real focul point CBD we are going to have a rather unsatisfactory position of having a run down and largely abandoned shopping mall (village walk) an empty and overgrown apartment building (the Old Mutual site) and a half finished station next to an empty and litter filled parking lot (Kgoro) all right in the prime points of the Sandton CBD.

C'est la vie. I am just glad most of these developments stopped even before construction. It would have been horrible to have the shells sitting there. Still sad.

Yup agreed although I am very concerned about the Village Walk site. Its really a total eyesore and only going to get worse. A real shame in such a prime position. I fear they are just going to leave the building to rot which will look horrible. Its already virtually empty apart from Clicks and the coffee shop.

Well we know that all the proposed big towers will not go ahead. But lets hope we at least see one rise

U know, one day a tower is gonna get proposed, approved, and get under construction without any hassles and surprise us all... Cant wait for that day...

Heard the bar ended up not choosing a site. Decided to stay where they are
