Looks like it was a nice trip.

Thanks for picturing the street by street vibe, it's much more interesting than the usual shots of tourist places.

Do you went by Eurostar? It must be amazing to have tha chance to travel between two of the world's most fantastic cities so quickly. You're like close to everything good in Europe.

Once again, thanks for sharing.

Excellent pics, as always. I love how you always go off the "beaten track" and as PortoNuts said, you don't take just the usual shots of the touristy sights.

It is also interesting seeing London from the eyes (or camera) of a Parisian.

Looking forward to Part II -- BTW, if you're still there, any chance you could take a few pics of Richmond & Kew?

I went in London with the Eurostar, it is faster than the plane because you directly arrive in the center.
Infact the pics from the East to the West End via the City (#1 to #79) were took the day of my arrival.
It was during the rush hours.

No I am not anymore in London and I didn't been in Richmond.

Great thread. As you've illustrated, London can look so tatty and depressing at times. Especially when the sun isn't shining (which is, err, most of the time!).

Thanks.

Great shots of a cool city. Only the weather makes the city look even more grey. Love the chaotic nature of London and your pictures showcase that very well. The most striking buildings sit next to some hideous ones. Or if you walk out of the city of London you get into some really depressed parts.

It's incredible how you manage to make beautiful cities look ugly...you've done it with Paris and London. I've been to both cities and they are very beautiful, not as you show here, and especially in the thread of Paris.

A very odd selection of pictures, some shot in bland, non-descript areas of central London and the city fringes, others shot in more photogenic locations, but without the pizazz to showcase the buildings / streetscapes at their best. The incredibly grey weather doesn't help matters and for what it's worth, it's not ALWAYS grey here, so this isn't normal London weather! It's hard to see what you're trying to achieve here - sure London does have it's fair share of ugly areas and buildings and I'm not trying to deny that, but why take pictures in dull ugly areas? You'd be better off taking pictures in gritty areas with a bit of life in them, places like Brixton or Shoreditch.

Apologies if I've offended you, but I really don't think you've done our great city any favours with this set of pictures!

Suggestion for a title for Picture 52 : Half baked Foster's carbuncle.

The point of this kind of photography is not to make a city "any favours", but to have the most realistic depiction of the city itself. Or to be more precise, of some parts of the city but as they are seen by the people who make their life there every day, not for tourism or architecture ballads.

Of course, there is no such thing as pure objectivity and Minato has a tendency to take more photos if there are starbuck coffees (hahahaha), black people :d and urban commieblocks. But still, it'll give you a much more realistic knowledge of what is the city than usual tourist photos or "artistic" shots.

The only thing that makes London look tatty is the crappy street furniture and road markings.
