London is definitely the stadium capital of the world. No question. The only American city that can claim part of that is that New York is the demolished stadium capital of the world (Ebbets Field, Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, Polo Grounds, early Madison Square Gardens)

I seriously cant believe people would look past Dallas in this category. Someone recently posted some of the stadiums in the Dallas area and looking at some of the "big" stadiums in London and LA, Dallas has HIGH SCHOOL football stadiums larger than some of those. Just saying.....

Sleepy little back water Dallas, verses hustle and bustle big city London, soory but can't compare apples to oranges here.

If I were to vote, then London hands down.......

London could hold a Fifa World Cup alone, just by using the existing stadia!

yeah you're right Dallas has a ton of stadiums. Everyone thinks London beats every city hands down but from a capacity perspective:
London 10 000+ stadiums: 20
Dallas 10 000+ stadiums: 20

London 90 000+ stadiums: 1
Dallas 90 000+ stadiums: 2 and a race track

London biggest stadium:90 000
Dallas biggest stadium: 110 000

You said it, from capacity. Just 'cause you have capacity doesn't make them great and historic stadiums like London has.

Historic based on what? design? events hosted? or simply because they are homes to important english soccer/football clubs

Whats the breakdown of the 20 stadium in each town with 10k+?

Its a massive spread comparing 10k up to 90k

The events they've held.

I mean London going for their 3rd Olympics
LA has had 2.
Melbourne 1 - but for it's size!

They're all so far ahead of Dallas in diversity and history of sports.

The US has the disadvanatge that no one city can claim to have the most important stadium(if one exists at all) in every major sport,

London can do so with Football, Rugby Union, Athletics, Cricket and Tennis plus the final of the Challenge Cup in Rugby League , add in a number of the largest football clubs stadiums(3 of the 4 clubs in the champs league this year), a second large cricket ground and the biggest arena in the country and I don't think any US city can compair.

Many would say of course that so much being centralised in London isnt a good thing though and would clearly be a bad thing in the US.

the 110, 000 stadium I was refering to was the Cowboys stadium in Arlington which forms part of the Dallas metro area such as university park, Denton, Fort worth, Frisco, etc. It is listed as 80 000 but it can fit 30 000 more with standing room. It has the NFL single game attendance record with 105 121

The London post doesn't count metro, except for Ascot (which is officially outside the London boundaries but is contiguous to the urban city). London is ringed with countless stadia too for the local football clubs. How much of that list is actually in Dallas city?

Cowboys stadium also has the single game attendance record for basketball (108 713) and is expected to have to break the record for a boxing match November 13th when Manny Pacquiao fights Antonio Margarito
