I have posted a couple of links to "Old Photographs" archive-type sites (as have others) on the HISTORIC NEWCASTLE thread.
This one is more appropriate to this thread, as it contains contemporary photos, as the name suggests . . It has a NEW photo on every day, and is called (appropriately) "NEWCASTLE DAILY PHOTO" . . . http://www.newcastleupontynedailyphoto.com/ |

Okay, started to upload loads of photos, but it was taking forever, am new to flickr so I'm sure there's a quicker way, but for now I can just put this link in
http://www.flickr.com/photos/43725946@N05/ They're loads of excellent aerials taken during construction of the new Eldon Square bit, taken last November |

Chatton all you need to do is right click on the picture in flickr and copy image URL, that is if you are using Google Chrome. If not then just right click on the image and then go to Properties, highlight the image URL and copy (ctrl+c), DON'T go into quick reply go to advanced post and then select the insert image icon (the one that look like a picture of mountains with a little square above them?) and hay presto....!!!
Here I have uploaded a few for ya!! COURTESY OF CHATTON11........ image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() ![]()

those are the best aerials of newcastle city centre that ive ever seen. they're crisp and taken at the right angle so that you can appreciate the facades of the buildings rather than just their distant rooftops. great stuff.
Agree with Ahmed too, the brewery site could fit in a new grainger town! Of course, we don't build like that anymore. ![]() You also realise how big the moors and parks are and how they segregate the city. it would be great to build some blocks of berlin style apartment buildings either side of the Great North Road.

Didn't take them myself I'm afraid, but got forwarded them in a very round about route, I think they were prob taken from a Helicopter taking some marketing/ update photos for Eldon Square. Been holding off posting them just in case someone didn't want anyone to, but the people who forwarded them have now lost their jobs, and it was nearly a year ago, so why not eh? It's not like we're going to use them for evil purposes! Yes, they are amazing photos, I love them, and you're right about the Moors, and their vastness. Am I right in thinking that Town Moor is bigger than Hyde Park and St. James Park put together? I do like the presence of the cows and all, but how amazing would it be if they were a bit more planned and landscaped? You could still have some areas for cows, but also have tree-lined boulevards, coffe-kiosks, places to sit and have a picnic, and expensive houses/ apartments lining the sides. Somehow, I don't think that will ever happen

Yes, that is only a small part of the City Centre, but it has certainly LOST some significant (though not always 'loved') buildings, over as short a space of time as the last three years!!

Here, as promised on the "TBT thread" and also on the "57 Quayside" thread, are the photos from my 2005 visit (during the Tall Ships Race) to the ROOF of Tyne Bridge Tower . . .
Starting with those from those threads, first Quote:

Now, for the other ones from that day . . . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I really enjoyed my visit to the roof, don't suppose I'll ever get back. I hope (personally) this building can be saved and a DECENT job done of re-furbishing it into flats . . . I can tell you, I'll be after the PENTHOUSE !!! (I wish . . ) |
