Ochre Yards , Bellway private housing development, Gateshead - ongoing work as at 04/08/12

Further to my last posting on this project (#633 on 22/04/12) I append a few pictures ( hosted on Photobucket) taken 04/08/12 approx 1045 showing state of play on the one block of properties being constructed and nearing completion - located immediately to west of Colombo Square block and now known to be called Marmion Court

Seems that after this block and external works & planting area west of it are completed the site is to be temporarily closed down - assume due to current housing market.

This board alongside marketing office shows current status sales within the block

Unable to find anywhere a site plan of the whole development to show extent of work "put on hold"

Not quite a development but there will be some rebuilding work needed on East Park Road. My daughter walked the dog that way this evening from the south and reports that there has been a land slip presumably because of the heavy rain and it has taken down several lengths of metal, spiked fencing. She had some difficulty getting past and to make matters worse the park gates were locked so she couldn't make a detour.

Update: Most of the fencing had been removed this morning but the rubble from two stretches of collapsed wall remains:

East Park Road still has rubble all over the place from the collapsed walls. By the looks of some of the wall it won't be long before more of it comes down.

Did you forget something Ken?

I remember when that was the Job Centre back in the 80's, aaah the memories, the flying chairs, the people jumping over the counters, the riot vans

There are precedents, Spillers, Derwent Tower, Tyne Tees TV, Cruddas Park, TBT, etc.

It is particularly useful to have an individual thread in place for when the eventual re-building takes place on the site - whatever it might be.

Are there any plans for the site, post-demolition?

Demolition of estate initially covered on here in page 6 post 101

The area is part of GMBC redevelopment of Town Centre with new new build housing ( along with selected boroughwide developer ) etc as covered in other Gateshead area posts including recent post 712

The demolition I am led to believe is to be carried out in phases , up to 3 year duration

As for the Dunston Rocket lots of photo opportunities

If you are referring to the Heworth Hall proposal - no its not a demolition - A Grade Listed Building, but an additional building as:

This application proposes the erection of a single storey building located along the boundary with Pelaw Social Club. The footprint of the proposed data centre follows the historic footprint of a single storey glass house structure which existed previously.

Had occasion to visit Heworth Hall as a potential client the other week. Apparently much of the interior has been rearranged to suit office use, but the reception and a meeting room at least have been retained/restored in a grand style for the purposes of impressing visitors - which is definitely achieved.

Work has finally started on the conversion of the Honeysuckle on Coatsworth Road into a Tesco store. It is pretty low key at the moment with one van and a crew of five working internally.
