I still think it's a shame about the old parcels sheds but Sleeperz makes a nice, sleek, congrous (?) addition to the streetscape.
Good photos, Steve.

Perhaps there'll now be a discussion about me reading the Guardian as opposed to one about hotels, but nevermind, here's the first national press review I've read for Sleeperz. Overall OK...ish...kinda.... is the theme I think!

Sleeperz Hotel - Reviews
![]() ![]() If you read the reviews on Trip Advisor there are some not very flattering references to Stag and Hens in fancy dress in the Hotel. ![]() Overall the hotel scores well with its customer service being a plus. |

Noticed some police activity at the Sleeperz this afternoon with an area to the east of the hotel cordoned off - looked like a doorway or window had been smashed?
Also interesting that there doesn't appear to have been any take up in the ground floor retail space and see it is being advertised as to let as leisure and retail. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Photographs hosted on http://ellwood.fototime.com/Westgate...20Construction |

Look at the mini, at the front you can just see that it's all smashed so I'm assuming it has either accidentally went into the building, or for some reason someone has tried to ram raid an empty building.
In your 2nd last photo the mini has been taken away. |

Possible pulled out from the tunnel from Hanover Square and had to take averting action when confronted with oncoming traffic is my guess.

All together now
![]() ![]() I might be thinking about the wrong bit of road, but that section of Westgate Road is definitely one way. The tunnel isn't, but if she was driving onto Westgate having turned left from the tunnel, and there was a car heading towards her then there was something seriously wrong. If she was swerving to avoid a car entering the tunnel and she managed to get through that window she must have been doing warp speed ![]()

What I meant was that she may have come out of the tunnel, turning left but might have misjudged the oncoming traffic and had to do an avoiding left shift to avoid a car collision but got one with the window/door of the Sleeperz. |

According a report on Radio Newcastle (which was also in some form on the BBCi service) the female driver was travelling with her mother and simply mistook the layout of the road and went straight through the glass window of the hotel.
She was uninjured, but her mother suffered minor cuts and bruises. ooops! |
