The Loop
Does anyone else think that the repainting that was done with the Wabash portion of the L should be done throughout the central area?
It just looks too nice not to duplicate elsewhere. Has the city looked into this?

Hells yes! It looks awesome. Recently I was walking down Wabash and it felt like I traveled through time. It makes the el tracks look like a true throwback. The tracks throughout the rest of the loop just seems old and weathered. On Wabash the tracks look restored, and it goes great with the restoration at Legacy and Sullivan Center.
There has to be a plan to repaint the rest of the el tracks. I think it should be done thoughout the city. |

The steel structure does look vastly better... too bad the Wabash el stations are still deplorable.

I love it, I hope they extend the paint job throughout the loop at least. But yea, the stations are a joke, looks like they are abandoned from afar

Does anyone have a picture of what you're all talking about. I must not pay that good of attention when I'm over there because I was JUST down on Wabash...at night however, and didn't notice anything...

I dunno -- as a red-colorblind cyclist who's often squeezed between cars and those metal columns, I'd appreciate a brighter color. The mustard color was much more visible than the maroon is. That said, the street surface and sidewalks look good.

Thanks for the pic
Thanks for the pic T George. I have been downtown a bit, but I did not know what you guys were talking about until I scrolled down and saw the pic. My wife and my boy and I are going downtown this weekend to go to the Walnut room and look at the windows at Macy's (or should I say Marshall Fields). I am new here on this blog, an amateur architecture buff who was born in Frank Lloyd Wright's Oak Park.
