It's the existing Canberra Stadium. Once an athletics stadium, turned oval for use for AFL and cricket, now rectangular. Once Canberra gets their new stadium, the existing Canberra stadium will be turned back into an oval stadium to be the premier oval stadium in the city.

That's probably exaggerated, I'd assume it's less than 1 billion for the 3 codes, a majority for AFL and NRL, then for the ARU. Given less following and general smaller capacity of NRL stadiums, the AFL will probably get the biggest share.

Should the season continue during the World Cup, then expect the compensation to be less.

It would most likely be covered by the government should we win.

Well regardless of whatever compensation will end up costing, mind you, it would have been money spent on transport infrastructure and hotels that we don't really need to build in support of a World Cup, because the infrastructure is here and is always improving every year regardless of major sporting events.

I'd expect the 2.8 or whatever billion on stadium construction and say half a billion to a billion spent on operational costs, security, marketing, temporary structures etc.

A mostly cost efficient World Cup if you ask me.

USA 2018? It's generally accepted Europe will get 2018. It's not for no reason Japan pulled out of the 2018 race to focus on 2022. Your lists are funny.

Really nice promotional video. I love when continental countries host WC, it puts different national teams spread in a vast space and then the two best of them come from the distant places to the major city of the country or one the major ones. Like an epic!

They're in the world cup, unlike Poland.

Of course, they have a much easier time of qualifying but I don't see how that comment is of any use to this thread.

Who cares? Since they've got good stadiums, beautiful chicks, fantastic landscapes and weather... Hey, wait... They've got already all of this!

Hope one day I'll have the chance to know this land!
