Great map of CRH plans up to 2014

Looks like a major update as of March 15.

Great map and thanks for posting it Pearl.

I'm rather amazed that the Southeastern-Coast Mainline that connects all the major cities isn't dedicated 300km/h.

I also think there ought to be a decicated line between Shanghai and Anqing (out of Hongqiao) that does not share the Huning and Huhang lines.

is there seriously a 350km/h between Chongqing and Suining? I don't even think one is planned.

I said it was the best looking map which is true.

All other maps are hideously ugly.

That will be awesome and Lhasa too (if possible). Something like national wide CRH. The cost will be expensive but I hope China will build it in 20-30 years later.

With free trade China-ASEAN, I hope someday there will be CRH from Singapore to Beijing, crossing Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hanoi, etc. Urumqi to Central Asia capitals is awesome too.

NO! Thundering away at 350 km/h up the Tibetan plateau? That is ridiculous. And there is simply not enough people in the Western areas to defend such outlays. CRH from China to SEA is not impossible though. Might see that one coming!

Lanzhou-Urumqi

Beijing-Lanzhou, about 1800 km, is supposed to get 350 km/h HSR. That means that even if the average with the curvy parts and station stops is under 300 km/h, 7 hours should still be enough.

Lanzhou-Urumqi is 1882 km, and now takes almost 21 hours. But unlike Lanzhou-Lhasa, which is in high mountains, the Silk Road is mostly flat desert. Is it worthwhile to build a faster railway to Urumqi?

But why 350 km/h for Beijing - Lanzhou?
We have to ask ourselves this.

May down from Tibetan plateau the speed can reach up to 500-600km/h, the world fastest train. This will became a major tourist experience when visiting Tibet.

If in the future Central Asian countries and Afghanistan are stable, peaceful and economy development booming, As a hub between China-Central Asia, Xinjiang economy will be far bigger than today. HSR from Beijing or HK to Urumqi-Kashgar has a huge economy benefit.

I read Vietnam are planning to build HSR from Hanoi to Ho Chi Min using Japan train. Vietnam is amazing, I hope my government also built expressway and HSR from Jakarta to Surabaya. Or Aceh to Bali.

China is not even extending 430 km/h Transrapid to Beijing.

Due to the steep terrain on the route, a railway from Kashgar to Kyrgyzstan, Takikistan or Pakistan would be expensive. Whereas Urumqi-Almaty would make sense.

There already is 1435 mm or double gauge rail between China and Hanoi. Shall HSR go all the way from Saigon to Beijing and Pyongyang?
