Nice picture.

And damn, the area between the buildings and the sea really is terrible. And there's nothing planned there either. Has to be the ugliest seafront in the region.

nothing planned?! what about the gigantic complex by salto, the 2 buildings by baumschlager & eberle, the navigator, not to mention the new town hall and the huge logi street development...

too many plans, not enough deeds.

seems to me that the only go-ahead project at the moment is the urbanistic park of the museum of architecture

I hate to brake it to you,but land lot near Admiralty Basin is on sale again. In what, twenty years? ...only thing they've managed to do,was demolishing old (shipyard?) buildings there, which were presumably under heritage protection

...none But buildings were from early 1900s,if I remember correctly. Given the fact that most similar shipyard buildings are under protection in Tallinn,so should have been those. But,hey,it's too late to cry about them. Now we can only hope that something new and awesome will be built there one day

Absolutely love this picture

Wish there was one with the Metro Plaza's LED (?) lights on and another one like this taken from the other side of Viru Hotel.

353 Kaarli church (built 1862 - 1870) One of Estonia's largest churches.

354 Different views of it...

355

356

357 Near the church is Occupations Museum. Displays Estonian history under both Nazi & Soviet regimes. Finished in 2003.

358 One more photo of the museum.

359 Admiral Johan Pitka monument near Hirvepark. He was high ranking military officer,Naval Forces Commander who famously tried to organize Estonian resistance for regaining independence during 1944. Missing in action, presumably died in Western Estonia.

360 Danish Embassy on Wismari street.

361

362 Wismari street view. Light yellow building next to embassy is Public Prosecutors Office (originally bank built in 1869,rebuilt 1914)

Why are bell-towers nailed up with wooden planks?

I'm not sure. Possibly to protect bell tower's interior from weather.. they do look like storm shutters and we haven't had any decent weather in last two months,so it would make sense.

369 Swedbank Estonian headquarters (former Hansapank HQ) on Liivalaia street.

370 Tallinn's rather typical chaotic street scene - 1920s achitecture mixed with modern midrises...

371 Harju county court building.

372 "Vivat Justitia" - long live justice

373 First taste of commie blocks and rather oriental looking house on Juhkentali street.

374 Another look of that house..btw,it's Commerce Bureau of the People's Republic of China.

375 Central bus station...looks boring and more fitting to some county center, rather than capital.

376 Residential building near the bus station.

377 It's side view.

Let's continue.

378 A bit more industrial look...

379 Former Fahle paper & cellulose factory's fire station (built 1912) Btw,it was really common in those days for large factories to have their own fire stations. Currently it's used as some shop.

380

381 Chimney! ...and part of Fahle building visible.

382 Abandoned factory building.

383

384

385 Fahle building,originally a cellulose plant built between 1926 to 1930...

386 ...it was rebuilt in 2006 as a posh residential building. View from Tartu highway.

388 Former Cellulose factory's office building (1915)

389 Probably the most important factory in Tallinn - Liviko alcohol distillery. From coctails to vodka...and everything between,in another words - the good stuff About the building - it was originally a national alcohol distillery built in 1900.

390 Luku-Expert office building. Built in 2005,it won Estonian Concrete Structure Of The Year award in 2006.

391 Panorama of nearby buildings,Riigi Kinnisvara / National Real Estate building in the center and Fahle building on the right corner

392 Riigi Kinnisvara / National Real Estate office building, one of the newest office buildings in Tallinn (was finished this summer)

393 Different views of it...

394 Damn,it looks really good

395 Moving along the Lasnamäe street, view towards downtown.

396 Commieblocks on Lasnamäe street. Note each balcony's individual rebuild style

397 One more downtown shot, taken on a footbridge near Torupilli Selver supermarket.

398 Looking the other way, same commiblocks from photo no.396

399 This one is taken a bit further away,on another bridge.

400 Zooming...

401 There,Tallinn's highrise cluster
