I'm on the Princess of Norway on Friday to Holland, and on the King of Scandinavia on Sunday coming back.

Fantastic is the only word for it.
Did you not manage to get any photos?

Purely pleasure on this occasion. And thanks.

I'm actually doing what DFDS encourage us to do. My final destination is Arras in north France. But it's much more civilized to have a pleasant night on the ship across to Holland and drive down through Belgium than make the dreary trek down to Dover, spend a night in a grim hotel there, and join the scrum for the ferry to Calais.

The service to Amsterdam is excellent - and if we don't use it, we'll lose it!

In relation to Tyne shipping here are a couple of videos of Royal Navy ships which have visited the river recently
HMS Ark Royal in the north sea being approached by helicopter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvtSXYqZyhg
And HMS Cumberland which visited the river to mark the 200th anniversary of Admiral Collingwoods death with some nice images of the Port

You might enjoy this video hollow man, It shows a helicopter flight over the Tyne Dock with a brief view of a rig in the background at Mcnulty's, a coal ship being unloaded, with a couple more vessels in the background.
Then flight goes across river to the Ferry terminal with a North Sea ferry in port before flying over the Royal Quays marina & Northumbria Quay and the view goes out over the North Shields Fish Quay and the piers.

North Sea crossing 'fast-tracked'

More credit to the Port of Tyne for helping out with the air transport problems by fast tracking the arrival of a ship from Norway.

Hello everyone ,
I collect data on ship movements from the Tyne area and send it to three websites :-
www.shipais.com
www.marinetraffic.com
www.vesseltracker.com
and shipping explorer
here is a link to the webpage for the Tyne area:-

http://www.shipais.com/showship.php?mmsi=309586000
Click on a vessel and the map will zoom in.
also the port of Tyne movements page is very good:-

http://www.portoftyne.co.uk/business...ments/listing/

My grandad was a captain on the colliers, he used to carry coal from Tyne dock to the Thames. My other Grandad was a train driver , he used to drive iron ore to Consett steel works.I asked a Freightliner driver to maker a video of the climb out of Tyne Dock with a fully loaded coal train as the bank is a 1 in 40 incline , he also video footage entering the port too, here is a link:-

I also was on my jetski on the day that the dock at Tyne Dock was officialy closed to shipping, I was there at high tide at 1900 on the sunday afternoon and the dock gates were open, these gates used to be open for an hour either side ofd high water. I took the chance to make a video. Also as this was the last tide before the gates closed for the last time to shipping I was most definately the last person in the dock before its official closure ,in the video I started off in the River Don next to St Pauls church and went along past the Nissan terminal (Tyne Car Terminal) then past the Tyne Bulk terminal , he past Riverside Quay before I made my little trip around the dock the , here is the video :-

I also have a couple of shots of the fire at the grain loader :-
