I was in that same station last week and took a pic on same escalator.

Of course it baffles me how the cops on the Jersey side fret about people taking photos in the stations whereas on the New York side, near the WTC even, never once did I get ratted at for taking pics of the area.

Nah, it's really for a few reasons, none of which i can tell you.

PATH is owned by the bi-state government agency Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, so it's not a "public place". MTA is a public entity chartered by the state of new york, so its holdings outside of restricted areas are a "public place". Even if they weren't they have several reasons to have the ban photography, even though people still take photos from time to time.

Rubbish................whatever. Maybe things will change down the road lolol

It used to at least fit in and look semi-nice. I know it's to fit in with the new branding, but its massively failed here. They've just ripped the old signage straight off the pillars. Nice video though.
It's called doing it on the cheap. PATH doesn't really care about the stations except for WTC.

look at Harrison and Hoboken , they keep promising to overhaul them but only the WTC gets the construction....at least the fares are stable.

I had the same "adventure" with taking pictures at PATH. And i cant see any reason for legitime the prohibition. It's just stupid rule. Plus all the pics i took are on the net already, so they will never get out of it.

LOL , yea most of us know the ways around the rules , which if taken to court would not hold up.....they conflict with the first Amendment...

There are two light rail systems that act as feeder services for PATH. They are the Newark Light Rail and the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail.

I am a big fan of integrated rail systems, but even in NYC it is not that hard to switch systems.

I used to live in New Brunswick NJ ( 1977-1979 ) and taught college in Newark NJ but on any given day I would go into NYC on business. So it would not be unusual on any given day for me to take Amtrak or NJ Transit from New Brunswick to Newark, the Newark City Subway from Newark's Penn Station to the college campus and back. Then PATH into NYC. And then either the NYC Subway or MTA or both to wherever I needed to go and back. And later on home via Amtrak or NJ Transit ( sometimes the Amtrak limited would be too crowded and I would wait for the NJ Transit local train instead ). Even with several "system" changes it was still much easier than driving.

The period by which this hideous transition was begining to take place. Here you have an older model train on the left, the PA-5 on the right. Notice the new "NEWPORT" sign on the pillar towards the right.

Even I don't like how they cheeply tore off the old signs from the pillars. And this is coming from someone who does not live in NJ & has only rode PATH once.

The differences between old & new signage is clear in this video.

Those videos of the older PATH trains , my videos have the Newer PATH cars or PA-5s. The Newer signage is stupid and a waste of $$$.

Personally, I don't mind new signage at a transit station. Replacements of signs every so often isn't necessarily bad. But this work was done is such a shoddy fashion. The least that PATH could have done was chipped away the remnaints of the old signs and paint over what they removed. But they did not even do that. It totally ruined the station's ambience.

Haven't been on the PATH in... a long time! Are all the trains now the PA-5 series?
