Is there a courtyard in the Jurys, it seems far too wide and square to have only rooms with windows otherwise.

Here is plan layout of both the hotel and yet to be started office block, document from Planning Application http://public.gateshead.gov.uk/onlin...=L0VCG3HK07L00 package

As you can see "downriver" side of hotel is "recessed"

Took these pictures today 22/01/12 between 1645 and 1715 around sunset and later to show the buildings lit (hosted on Photobucket)

Was down there to see if could get any sunset pictures of the bridges - heres one taken at 1643 looking west towards the bridges

Yes, but not a particularly attractive one

Bin storage and staff car parking primarily, by the looks of it.

Bejaysus if I paid £50+ for my room and that was the view! Is this the worst Jurys in the country?

The ones I've stayed in (in Sheffield and York before it shut) were far higher quality.

Looks grim from that angle but conversely views from the other end will be amongst the best in the country (and I imagine it'll be those that feature on the website). Not that your average stag do/business traveller will care, they'll be too busy nursing their hangover/ushering the prostitute out the room to notice the view. And its got to be better than the other Jury's with its view of the arse-end of the Centre for Life and the rail sidings.....

Out of interest mods, at what point do threads get 'locked'? It occurs to me projects like this and Sleeperz have been covered from pre-planning through approval, demolition, construction, T/O and eventual opening. Are they left open indefinately and is that not a drain on the forum's bandwidth?

The policy is dependent on what each forum, and each moderator, is happy with. What works best for them all.

For this thread, thought the hotel is open, it will be left as T/O (suffix) until such time as the 'One Millenium Quay' office (or whatever) building is finished, then the thread will be marked as 'Completed'.

After that point, posts naturally tail off to almost nothing (so no great strain on bandwidth) as there is nothing happening, but I don't feel any need to "lock" them.

That way, the thread can usefully be re-visited by posters when issues in relation to the completed project, or subsequent changes to the building occur.

That is how I see it!

Fair enough, and if we're waiting for the office element of this development to be completed I imagine this particular thread will be open for a long, looooooong time.....!
