Yeah. In case of metro, every station has its own AFC gates which are programmed so they can calculate how much distance you travelled between the two AFC gates (origin and destination). In buses, these gates are both the origin and destination for everybody. So in order to calculate fares, the machine has to register your origin and destination when you swipe the card and it is only possible when the moving machine is aware of its location all the time. That's why GPS for this awareness.

An advertisement. In the pic you can see a new Ashoka Leyland low floor bus. Looks sleeker than Tata Marcopolo.

Delhi should declare Noida as a part of delhi first and then boss everyone around.

Do you think there will be accidents involving blueline buses if they too plied within dedicated corridors?
I would think fewer if at all since they won't be interfacing with the traffic.

Bluelines are not nuisance only because they kill people but also because they are not commuter friendly. Firstly they will stop their bus at a particular stop and wait there to fill the bus or they will drive first 3-5 km very slowly in order to collect as many commuters as possible. Then they will race with other bluelines or DTC buses to earn, thus denting DTC's income as well. They bribe DTC drivers to drive slowly, thus creating troubles with DTC's timetable as well. Staff is far from courteous, buses are not maintained, seats are torn, floor is shaky, they leak CNG, they are dabbas and what not.

BTW have you lived in Delhi and faced bluelines ? I believe nobody will ever support bluelines.
