@ [anyone/everyone]

From several pictures of Sao Paulo, it indeed has the largest complex of skylines, for an urban area, on the planet. Also, I've read somewhere on these forums (from Brazilian forumers) that Sampa has roughly 50,000 buildings of 12-stories and up.

However, with Shanghai building thousands of new high-rise buildings every year and with the possible integration of Suzhou into Shanghai's urban area in the near future, it would only be a matter of time before Shanghai's urban area will have the world's largest skyline.

Not fight, we can't fight with China, nobody can. As Cebuano Exultor said, it's just a matter of time before Shanghai be greater than any other city and china be greater than any other country.

@ [anyone/everyone]

And oh, btw, even within East Asia, Shanghai isn't safely considered as the urban area with the largest complex of skylines.

The metropolitan area surrounding the South Korean capital of Seoul also has a shit load of high-rises including a fairly descent stock of skyscrapers.

Ok, then where are the pictures of Seoul? I've never seen an impressive picture of Seoul yet... it actually looks like Taipei or Istanbul in terms of skyscraper concentration.

not TRUE at all.

this is Seoul, and with all due respect, it's not as impressive as Shanghai

shanghai is huge but seems very cheap too at some part of the city... whole neighbourhoods sound like quick built-in shelters without quality.

that's the reason why we say shanghai needs at least 25 years to become high quality

It's amazing, but i m sure thats not the biggest in the world. Tokyo, SP or even Buenos Aires are bigger!
It s tall, modern and great but not bigger.

Good point, 7freedom7. No, of course no.
I've been to ALL world-class cities on the planet, and have found NO exceptions.
Actually, among all the cities I've been to, the one that impressed me most in terms of skyline and "grade" of buildings is Shanghai, not New York, not Hong Kong, not Tokyo.
Yes, there are "cheap" parts in Shanghai; but, don't forget this very important fact: with the fast development of the city, those parts are disappearing at a fast speed, and new, shining blocks are taking their place. For Sao Paulo and cities alike, it's another picture: cheap parts remain cheap, year after year, decade after decade.

You've got a point! Indeed, Pudong IS like Coruscant!
Look at the pics below carefully, and you'll find these "buildings" have their counterparts in Pudong, say, Oriental Pearl, Jinmao, etc..
