Tonight saw Flash Entertainment open the gates to the specially erected stunning concert arena within Ferrari World on Yas Island. As the crowd poured in, the atmosphere in the arena was electric. Flash Entertainment pulled out all the stops to create a stage and arena set-up to match the grandness of the 2009 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and an artist line up never seen before by a host city.

The phenomenally successful American R&B artist Beyoncé wowed the crowds and turned on an action-packed performance in front of over 40,000 spectators to launch the Yasalam after-race concerts on Yas Island, presented by Flash Entertainment.

Grand Prix ticket holders enjoyed the perfect opening to the race weekend action as Beyoncé performed some of her hits including Crazy in Love, If I were a boy and Sweet Dreams.

John Lickrish, Managing Director, Flash Entertainment said:

“When Flash Entertainment launched the Yasalam programme we set out with the intention of creating something unique, something to bring the whole community together to celebrate our wonderful city.

“The climax to the Formula 1™ season deserves something very special to accompany it and tonight’s first Yasalam after-race concert undoubtedly provided that. Beyoncé’s performance tonight was simply amazing and showed just why she is regarded among the world’s top artists.”

“With three more great acts lined up this weekend, we are all looking forward to continuing the massive Formula 1™ celebrations in Abu Dhabi.”

Performing as part of the ‘Yasalam on Yas Island’ celebrations, Beyoncé is the first of a star-studded line-up of the world’s best musical talent who are performing over the race weekend. British funk band Jamiroquai are gearing up to play tomorrow (Friday 30th October) followed by American rockers Kings of Leon (31st October) and Aerosmith who will provide the thrilling climax to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday (1st November).

Aldar Properties on Thursday announced the completion of the external structure of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, located close to the new F1 circuit on Yas Island.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is set to be the world's largest indoor theme park and the first ever Ferrari theme park when it opens in 2010.

Mohammed Al Mubarak, chief commercial officer, Aldar Properties, said: "We are delighted to have reached this landmark in the development of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. We are proud to be a part of bringing Ferrari to Abu Dhabi."

The iconic sleek red roof directly inspired by the classic double curve side profile of the Ferrari GT body covers a surface area of 200,000 sq m and features the largest Scuderia Ferrari "prancing horse" emblem in the world, measuring 66m in diameter.

The company said the park's superstructure had been completed in 14 months, with more than 4,500 workers involved in the construction project on a daily basis.

A joint venture management construction company owned by Aldar and Besix, the largest Belgian construction group, is responsible for the management of the project, whilst UK firm Benoy is the architect and lead consultant.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will be operated by Farah Leisure Park Management LLC (Farah), a joint venture between Aldar and ProFun Management Group.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will host over 20 state-of-the-art attractions, including the world's fastest rollercoaster, travelling at speeds exceeding 200km/h emulating the thrilling sensation of being in a Ferrari F1 car.

When African buy shares in car brands then they will get F 1. Abu Dhabi got the F 1 because they have bought a lot of shares in car brands. For example 5% of Ferrari is in hands of Abu Dhabi.

Mercedes, Fiat, Ferrari etc are also for a part in Arab hands...

Abu Dhabi racing into F1 history

It has got glitz, it has got glamour, it has got speed and now Formula 1 motor sport has got a brand new circuit in the United Arab Emirates.

By all accounts followers of the world's most prestigious motor race will not be disappointed on Sunday when the competition reaches its climax in Abu Dhabi for the first time.

The Yas Marina track has cost an estimated $1.5bn to build and the most powerful man in the sport is delighted with the end product.

"What they've done is unbelievable," exclaims Bernie Ecclestone.

"I never thought it would be finished like this. I said I hope we're not going to be racing on a building site, but no one is going to top this."

He is not the only one who has been impressed with the track which is part of a multi-billion-dollar plan to develop the UAE's Yas island.

Residents in Abu Dhabi are also thrilled and feel proud to be hosting one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar.

Part of the track runs under this eye catching steel and glass hotel

Unprecedented

It took thousands of workers two years to complete the track, which is the most advanced in Formula 1.

The location is on an island 30 minutes from the Emirati capital.

I am happy because I managed to buy a ticket to enter the track and watch the race
Khalid
Abu Dhabi resident

The centre piece of the circuit is the luxurious Yas Hotel.

Not only are the teams staying in it, but the drivers will pass under it because it is actually above the course.

There has been huge demand for the 50,000 tickets all of which have been sold at a price tag of between $400 and $700.

"I am happy because I managed to buy a ticket to enter the track and watch the race," said Khalid Ali, 27.

Another fan, Mohammed, 30, said: "I was eager to buy the ticket even though it was expensive."

Party atmosphere

Thousands of people are descending on Abu Dhabi for the race, and the practice and qualification rounds, and the streets are alive with music and entertainment which has been specially provided.

Many famous Arab musicians have been holding concerts.

But performers have also come from further afield including German acrobats and a mixed Cuban and Spanish band.

For most people however, the big event remains the race, and although Jenson Button and his Brawn team have already been crowned champions, he is still determined to put on a show.

For most people however, the big event remains the race, and although Jenson Button and his Brawn team have already been crowned champions, he is still determined to put on a show.

The authorities too want this race to be an unforgettable experience and they have gone to great lengths to ensure that everything goes to plan and there are no problems.

All the roads that lead to the course have high levels of security.

There are police cars and checkpoints everywhere.

One officer said "security is increasing as the race gets closer."

According to him, "it's important to avoid anything that would upset this event which is taking place in Abu Dhabi for the first time."

There are also extra medical teams and ambulances.

A show piece

The project started off as a hole in the ground in 2007, but now Abu Dhabi is gearing up to reap the rewards its labours.

On Sunday, four world champions will do battle with each other on a brand new butterfly shaped track, in Formula 1's first ever day-night race.

For a few hours, Abu Dhabi will be in the focus of millions of people around the world tuning in to watch the drama unfold in the last race of the season.

Walking in the capital, you see signs on taxis and billboards flashing the message: "You asked and we delivered."

A lot of people here think so, and so too does the Formula 1 supremo Ecclestone.

"It's magic what they've done," he beams.

what´s bad with glamorous, should I say pompous or sumptuous? ...come one, you cannot deny that you would love to be there, too instead of being glued to your TV set watching from a distance.

F1 is glamour/flashy sports and Abu Dhabi has crowned it all, hence most glamorous is the appropriate term!
