Btw I am impressed with Ukraine International... I saw their EMB 190 @ IST. Looks like they have a new fleet.

Indeed, they have huge plans for fleet expansion. Regarding EMB 190, they got two from Aerosvit and 3 new straight away from a factory. With respect to 738 they got 4 more from Aerosvit and 2 more from Jet Airways, in gross total 8 metals. Moreover, Ukraine International already received 1 new 739 and due to receive another one in August, and received one old 739 and due to receive another one in August as well.

Any plans for them to aquire wide body aircraft? I read something somewhere that the 777 plan is out the window and they are looking at former Aerosvit 767s.

Can anyone verify that ?

You are right. Their plans for AI's 777s didn't work out. Instead, as you mentioned, they will go for Aerosvit's 767s. At the time of this message, UIA is planning to get 3 Aerosvit's 767s.

Are you considering to visit the airport when EK send the A340? It will be tricky to get a picture since you guys have two runways. I think in Budapest they have two runways, but only one is used due to Malev's dismissal.

@Ljubljana:
This is no real livery, the a/c was just equipped with stickers. Seems like they needed the a/c to put in service as soon as possible and be repainted later. Or it's an interims solution.

I would love to see it, but I am not sure if I can. Anyway, there will be tons of spotters to do the job Regarding runway, it's not that tricky at all. Widebodies land at 18L/36R.

You are right. Now it's a very "hot" season for charter flights to leisure destination. No time for repainting.

And speaking of PS (Ukraine International Airlines), I wonder what made the airline choose to operate its B737-900ER to Bangkok nonstop from Kiev... I mean, really? Read the report here

Indeed, we have a chance to see both types. True, load factor is very nice on TAS-KBP-TAS.

They just want to get on this route as soon as possible. Then, they will deploy their own 767-300ER or/and Windrose's A330-200.

PS used to operate this route (via LHE) on 737-800.
