It was half and half in the Footy Echo. There was some guy banging on about people should not be getting free tickets but a lot of that is part of sponorship deals which brings money into the club.

I believe SAFC season tickets, are one of the more reasonably priced in the Premier ---- Niall Quinn and the board get a thumbs up from me.

I like this story, ---this from the Echo, ---

Woman unearths treasured copy of '37 Football Echo

Anne Simpson and the 1937 Football Echo.

Published Date: 26 April 2010
A rare Football Echo celebrating Sunderland winning the FA Cup for the first time 73 years ago has been discovered at a Wearside home.

Anne Simpson came across the 1937 copy of the paper, published by the Sunderland Echo, while cleaning out her parents' house in Houghton.

The special edition marked the team's historic win over Preston North End at Wembley.

"My mother passed away earlier this year and I was cleaning out their house when I came across the paper in a dressing-table drawer," she said. "It was in pretty good condition, considering how old it was."

Anne, from Fence Houses, said the paper belonged to her late father.
Sunderland won 3–1, with goals by Bobby Gurney, Raich Carter and Eddie Burbanks, after Frank O'Donnell's strike on 44 minutes put Preston ahead.

For all the club's great traditions in the League, Sunderland had never before lifted the Cup. It would be 36 years before they won it again.

Photos in the paper show Wearside-born inside-forward Raich Carter receiving the famous trophy in front of more than 93,000 fans.

"My dad was a massive Sunderland fan, so he must have kept hold of it because he knew it was an important edition," said Anne. "They don't win the Cup very often."

Footy Echos were sold out @ my newsagent for only the second time this season at the weekend.

But delivery driver thought this would be the Footy Echos last season because of poor sales !
