I just added two more pictures that show the surrounding.
It's a truely impressive little church. It's a landmark which can be seen from pretty far away which has a certain magic to it that makes it look like it's not really from this world.

Agreed - it has a 'fantasy castle' feel to it, but still not sure it 'imposes', like say the Romanian Parliament Building does.

Chase tower in Houston. This is a nice building but its 75 stories and mosteverything around it is only about 10 - 20 stories so it really sticks out from this angle.

For most imposing, that thing it North Korea looks pretty imposing.

Edinburgh Castle. It's imposing without being huge.

The waterfront of The Netherlands, preventing more than 60% of the country for being flooded (because most of the country is below sea-level).

Tibet is not beautiful, unless you are brainwashed.

It is an evil state, the monks has been exploited.

the monks are absolutely evil scum, robbing and murdering anyone they can get their hands on. they are demon-worshipers, appearing in the masks of their demon gods on certain days.

Agreed minneapolis-uptown, because of all the other towers now downtown the building is a little more difficult to see and appreciate. The IDS has long been one of my all time favorite skyscrapers and it hasn't lost anything on me through the years.

Still, when it comes to any modern building I have to go with the Milwaukee Art Museum's Santiago Calatrava addition as being the most beautiful. When standing in it's presence it inspires awe and can keep you standing there for hours just looking at it, if possible.

This image comes from a website (www.minnescraper.com) that is apparently known to host malware. Anyway, because of this image my browser now gives a warning when opening this page of the forum ("Warning: Visiting this site may harm your computer!"), perhaps better remove it

The Sydney Opera House

I personally think that the Sydney Opera House is definitely an imposing building and an architectural marvel of the 20th century.
People often underestimate its sheer size. For those who don't know, the Sydney Opera House is 183m long and 120m wide at its widest point and stands at 67m tall. The Opera House has five theatres, five rehearsal studios, four restaurants, six bars and numerous souvenir shops. The opera house's roof is constructed of 1,056,000 glazed white granite tiles.

I always thought the Detroit Renaissance Center was very large and imposing.

Yeah, the Renaissance Center is an absolute skyline-defining monster.
