NR now have a press release up about Piccadilly and Oxford Road:

http://www.networkrailmediacentre.co...Engl-2151.aspx

Not only is the title poorly chosen but the wording in the text could easily mislead those who don't know better into thinking they propose to add an extra track or two throughout the distance between the two stations.

There still doesn't seem to be a better quality plan on the consultation site but there's still time for one to appear.

Larger scale and extending further at each end, so you can see where the tracks go and the exact extent of the viaduct widening and positions of the viaduct supports on the streets, and where the OHLE supports and signal gantries will be.

Hopefully they'll have better plans at the exhibitions and will put them on the web when the exhibitions start.

I just like large-scale detailed plans of things, and over the years I've seen lots of such plans for road schemes and for the Ordsall Chord. I feel cheated if the promoters of a scheme don't provide such plans.

Gradient, radius of curvature, horizontal and vertical transitions, I love it all.

What's any of that got to do with the general public? If they give all that you merely have more to query, when the track layout within the railway boundary is Network Rail's business to discuss with its customers the TOCs.

Anyway, until the assorted cloud of NIMBYs have finished with it there is little point in developing intricate details; the armchair objectors within the GBP may decide that the idea of over-due improvements to public transport in the north are not in the public interest

Unfortunately how true.

Apart from the fact that more money gets spent in the Southeast they seem to be crying out for improvements all the time.

In the north they seem to moan about the service but don't seem to want even the modest improvements when offered and find every excuse to object.

NR seem to talk about the 1 billion of improvements in the north. I never know where these figures come from as they never seem to fit with the earlier figures quoted. However 1 billion is not that much when NR seem to be saying they are going to spend about 4 billion on the Liverpool Street to Norwich route over the same time period

Seems fairly destructive to the street environment wherever the viaducts are being widened. All looks a bit retro-futuristic, utopian lies to me.

I can see instead lots of new grimy shady spots created that stink of piss.

Bloody A* for dramatisation of the northern hub. I was on the edge of my seat watching that.

Errrr, how long has this been here? Is it new, or is it left over from the consultations I posted about weeks ago? I only noticed it today, but I walk past here every single morning! Perhaps I need to wake up a little more before I leave my apartment...

It's left over from the consultations a month or so ago; that's where I went to look at the plans for Oxford Road
