Is there any mention in the Dubai press about the sale of the Auto Mall that connects the Control Tower to the Marriot that is under construction? Or that it is being repurposed into a regular shopping centre?

F1: Theme Park back on the Grid in Dubai

Dubai-based Union Properties has finalized plans to build a $163.35-M mixed-use project in Motor City, which includes a theme park, the company’s chairman, Khalid Bin Kalban, told local business website, Arabian Business.

Initial plans by Union Properties for a $544.49-M F1-X Dubai, a theme park dedicated to the F1 car racing competition were put on hold in the aftermath of the global financial crisis.

“The land was allotted to a theme park development, but a feasibility study said the cost would overrun to as much as $544.49-M. We have now redesigned the land usage plan, with 50% of the land allotted to a theme park and the remaining 50% to a mixed-use development,” he said.

“The revised masterplan has been approved by Dubai Municipality, but is awaiting clearance from Dubailand, the master developer who was insisting on the theme park as it used to be. But that is not possible,” Bin Kalban said.

The developer also intends to relaunch the $81.67-M. The Link Motor City project, which will have a retail component and a 3-Star hotel, Bin Kalban revealed.

Though the original Motor City master plan included seven hotels, Bin Kalban said the company has stripped back its ambitious hospitality development plans to developing only three hotels.

“We are executing the Motor City master plan, but with slight changes because market dynamics have changed. It is the most prosperous community in Dubailand. We want to capitalist on it,” he said.

Stay tuned…

They're starting to over-do it with the themeparks. They should focus all their efforts into one great themepark rather than multiple small ones.

disagree. Orlando is the most visited place on the planet with 97mil visitors . there are more theme parks than you can shake a stick at and having done it recently with this kids i can assure you the parks are not concentrated but scattered all over the place and its preferable as you can see more of the place

"The Central" Mall at Motor City.

Quote:
Union Malls will provide retail and leisure options in Union Properties developments. Located in the heart of MotorCity, its inaugural mall will be “The Central,” a 100,000 square metre complex spread over four floors offering shopping retail, dining and a wide range of leisure options.

The Central will be characterised by its sports offering and will feature a 250-metre indoor velodrome fully-equipped for cyclist and their trainers, a 700-metre indoor elevated running track, indoor Olympic-sized swimming, a diving centre, six indoor basketball courts, medical suites for sports therapy, and a 17,000 square foot gymnasium.

In keeping with its location in MotorCity, the automobile will be the other defining characteristic of The Central. A museum will enable classic car owners and manufacturers to display their collections, while there will also be a centre for the sale of used and classic cars.

Fresh videos from the Union Properties YouTube channel for "The Central Hotel" ("directly opposite to Central Mall") and "The Central Mall" (former Automall?):

I'll add this here as well once I have the correct location: https://www.travelario.com/en/middle...tes/dubai-map/
