You can just feel the snobiness. Notice how so many of these are in the US?

Of course many of these areas are quality residentials and use-mixed quarters/towns. But mostly for the middle-class, only a few of them are luxury class. There's also very affordable New Urbanism projects, for instance in Hurricane-riddled areas of New Orleans.

Here are some interresting examples by Duany Plater-Zyberk which, unfortunately, were never built:

^ Very interesting!

It's probably super unrealistic to propose the demolition of all these skyscrapers, that will (and should) never happen imho. But where there are brownfields, totally underused areas and huge motorways, there should be ways to urbanise these sustainably. Some great ideas there.

No, this is just a concept, it hasn't been implemented by the authorities (as far as I know). I just thought it was an interresting example of what can be done.

Well that'd be a great plan to redevelop ghettos. Certainly won't happen like that though.

My whole area is already full of historic towns these developments are trying to copy. So around here, for new developments in old centers it's mostly residential conversion of historic industrial buildings, there's also a lot of suburban crap but it's more scattered than in other states. Still you see old houses everywhere in Massachusetts, pretty sure my city is at least 60% prewar houses, my neighborhood is close to 80% (and that's mainly because an abandoned industrial area was redeveloped with new houses).

Oh yeh I thought it seemed to good to be true. Too classical and well considered to be implemented by modern town planners
