In Sydney CBD:
Laser Clinics has opened on level 2 at Westfield Sydney (next to Karl Azzi). Saint Laurent has opened on level 4 at Westfield Sydney (between Fendi and Prada). The store stocks only womenswear, shoes, bags and other accessories. It has been quite popular since opening with regular queues. Tigerlily has opened on level 2 at Westfield Sydney (next to Oroton). The Kings Comics (403 George Street, Sydney) store is a pop up. Will be interesting to see where they settle on for a new permanent home. Dior is advertising for staff positions for a new Women’s Cruise and Homme Pop Up store which will be located where the old Gregory's Jewellers was (3/67 Castlereagh Street, Sydney). I assume this is a precursor to a new Dior Homme store, or an expanded Dior flagship. Adverts have gone up for a new Nespresso store at George Place (345 George Street, Sydney). The new Nespresso store is scheduled to open in October 2018 next to the temporary Louis Vuitton store (which is still yet to open). German electronics brand Sennheiser (120 Pitt Street, Sydney) will replace the Sorry Thanks I Love You pop up store. Surf Dive n Ski (158-160 Pitt Street, Sydney) will open a pop up store in place of the old Soul Pattinson Pharmacy. At Sydney Airport: Bulgari will open its second store in Sydney at the International Terminal in Q4 2018. The new store replaces Kate Space, which in turn is in the process of taking over the old Oroton space.

David Jones has officially announced its new shoe department will open on level 7 at its Castlereagh Street store on Friday 5 October 2018.
Here is a promotional video by David Jones + Vogue, featuring the Sydney Dance Company: --- Camilla + Marc has placed job adverts for its upcoming store on level 3 at Westfield Bondi Junction. The new store will replace Saba. Excluding the C&M diffusion label and outlet stores, this will be the brand's fourth Sydney boutique, and 8th nationwide. JD Sports has placed job adverts for its upcoming store on Pitt Street Mall. This will be the chain's seventh Sydney store, and 14th nationwide. Marimekko is opening on level 2 at Westfield Sydney (exact location TBC). Moncler is replacing Versace on level 3 at Westfield Sydney. Mulberry is replacing Oroton on the ground floor at the Queen Victoria Building. Rag + Bone has placed job adverts for a new boutique at Westfield Bondi Junction. This represents the brand's first Sydney store. Sephora will open its seventh Sydney location today on level 4 at Westfield Parramatta. Viktoria + Woods will open its second Sydney store on level 3 at Westfield Bondi Junction, in place of Life With Bird.

Labyrinth of tunnels at St James Station to be transformed into bars, restaurants
AN underground labyrinth of tunnels at St James Station will be transformed into bars, restaurants and retail under a NSW government plan to resurrect the hidden space. It could see the the site become an international destination similar to the likes of the trendy underground tunnels in London or Dupont Underground in Washington. Transport Minister Andrew Constance announced the government was seeking expressions of interest from the international marketplace to convert the hidden rail tunnels, which were designed by John Bradfield in the 1920s. “I think these hidden gems have been hidden long enough,” he said. “We’re taking to the international marketplace the opportunity for retail, certainly the opportunities for bars and restaurants to convert these old hidden rail tunnels... to become an international destination,” he said. While the design at the moment is a “blank canvas”, Mr Constance said that over the coming months commercial real estate and investment firm CBRE would canvas opportunities with the world market. “What we want to see is a vibrant location and internationally recognised location for people to come and venture into the St James tunnels and have an incredible experience,” Mr Constance said The time is right to open it up, the time is right to say no longer is this going to be a hidden part of our history. “This is going to become part of our international tourism marketing campaign to encourage people to come to Sydney, to come to NSW and experience this incredible part of our history but do it in a way which is fun.” https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/bu...edium=Facebook

This is merely speculation and pondering, but...
Sephora has recently opened up on L4, right next to what used to be Toys'R'Us. The next shop down, Nader Jewellers, is moving 2 shops to the left, to the other side of Sephora which his quite odd. This means the whole of Toys'R'Us and old Nader Jewellers will be vacant, and that's A LOT of leasable space. The only company which is currently not present in Parramatta with a large market it could tap into would be Apple. Thoughts?

The other buzz is H&M - then again, is the space too small for it? |

I suspect Apple would be looking at more prominent streetfront locations in a major centre like Parramatta. Wouldn’t surprise me if they opened a new store in Chatswood at some point as well, up along the mall somewhere (plenty of old shitboxes available for demolition).

Could it be used as a car showroom, like Tesla, where you look at the cars and can order but it's delivered to you?

Definitely too small for H&M and it would be a departure from their preferred multi-level model.
Apple in Castle Hill is fairly large for a suburban store and this space would be marginally larger once you factor in back office space In other news, Chanel Beauty Boutique and Bose are about to open in Parramatta soon.

DAVID JONES
86-108 Castlereagh Street, Sydney David Jones has unveiled the first stage of a $200 million redevelopment of its flagship store. The new 'shoe heaven' on Level 7 at the Elizabeth Street store features nine in-store boutiques by Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Roger Vivier, Salvatore Ferragamo, Tod's and Valentino. In total, there are 85 brands on offer on Level 7. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ---- The mezzanine champagne bar + the children's department on Level 8 are due to open in time for Christmas. Level 7 is accessible by escalator and lift. You can already see the materials and colour palette being used on Levels 4 to 6 (currently closed for redevelopment) around the escalator atrium. If Level 7 is anything to go by, David Jones Elizabeth Street is well on its way to elevating the department store experience in Australia.

It's very impressive I have to say, after visiting it over the weekend when it was packed. It put's Myer to shame whose shabby interiors are a bit of an embarrassment.

Level 7 looks stunning... I'm going to miss the existing Food Hall but look forward to their move to Elizabeth Street.
