Kochi Metro Station

I know it is a bit premature but still ....... probably it is not even on the drawing board .... as we still wait for the Kakkanad extension.

Can anyone comment how close would be the Kochi Metro station to the airport? Will the metro station be close to the airport or would be somewhere around the main entrance and probably have to walk to the Airport terminal?

I wish it would have been something like you see in Dubai or London where the metro station is within the airport terminal!

Hope some wise heads ensure the metro station is as close to the airport and not banging about the job loses to taxi drivers if metro station comes up at CIAL.

Hope they also make provision for underground tunnel for the metro to the future terminal (may be after 20 years )towards south between two parallel runways. 🤣🤣

Until early 1980's there was a Bank called 'Bank of Cochin'(Not a small bank). Due to some financial irregularities and problems GOI nationalized it along with many other Banks(Third and last stage of Nationalization). Bank of Cochin was merged with 'State Bank of India', Now we can see erstwhile HQ at marine drive near Penta Menaka a lien tower. Another Kerala Bank Nationalized along with was 'Lakshmi Commercial Bank' merged with Canara Bank. Incidentally CIAL first office(Corporate Office) was just across the Road.

No sir, It was merged with State Bank of India not with State Bank of Travancore.

Now any way all 'State Banks....' Became 'State Bank of India.

Underground metro might not be a reality anytime in Kochi as the soil conditions are not fit for it. And it would simply inflate the cost to such a level, unfit for it.

It is not the soil condition, cost will be the problem.

Underground metro station referred was at the airport terminal in CIAL. Kochi Metro overground train upto Nedumbassery and then underground as it approaches the CIAL Airport Terminal so that passengers can switch from the metro station to Airport Terminal easily.

I think we can all dream but the bureaucrats won't allow such designs saying terrorist threats, ... .etc.

Kochi: A-I Express nets Rs 262 crore in 17-18

Quote:
Kochi: Air India Express, the low cost arm of Air India, has earned a net profit of Rs 262 crore in the 2017-18 financial year. The airline has been registering a net profit for the third consecutive year.

“The net profit in 2017-18 is significant as the aviation sector had to face many challenges including high input costs and sluggishness of Gulf economies where 90 percent of our capacities are deployed,” said K. Shyam Sundar, CEO, Air-India Express.

The unit costs have increased over the past 12 months due to steady increase in global fuel rates. The average cost of fuel in March 2018 was about 20 per cent more compared to what it was in March 2017.

Air India Express increased its revenues by 8.7 percent recording total revenue of Rs 3,648 crore.

It would be a very interesting to see how the metro reaches the airport. Both cial and kmrl being pinneers of our city in their own fields, known for doing different things (especially the former), the possible alingments and arrangements they both find would be something very different too 😅

It will be very costly to take metro to door steps...5 km from athani... invariably close to 800 crores!!

The best option is to route the Angamaly extension via the airport. Don't think any underground portion will be required. Maybe a few hundred meters of at-grade tracks near the Golf Club.

Greetings to all.

According to the approved plan, metro rail is along the existing NH in the Aluva to Ankamaly sector.

If it is to be modified/rerouted, so many steps are more to be completed.

Seaport - Airport road is the other project which is yet to be completed.

As on today, the road is there upto HMT factory front from seaport.

It has to be developed as per the proposed development of existing road along the side of NAD, then it should cross the Aluva to Perumbavoor private bus road at near to Cochin bank stop, then it sproceed via Keezhmad, then it should cross Aluva to Perumbavoor KSRTC road, then it has to cross Periyar and should reach the back side of Airport.

I think Binu may be able to comment on the present status of the above road.

Not related to CIAL. Why does AI Express allow 20 kg when travelling abroad from Indian airport at a time when it is the only airline doing so.
