Gee the penny drops!

This building was massive from the start!

The core alone was almost as big and the entire Meriton Rialto tower!!

I just came back from a 2-month vacation in Australia and South-East Asia yesterday and here are two photos I took of the building a few days ago:

It will be interesting to see the vista from Darling Harbour once this building is complete. Previously i've really loved that view because you have hunderes of relatively small towers packed into a long area, the illusion i get is a very very dense CBD, and since they are all relatively short, they appear quite tall.

This one, i hope doesnt destroy the balance. Being so big, and so tall in comparison to the previously visible ones, i hope it doesnt dwarf everything you see and make it look less intense.

Just a thought...

theres no real illusion the western precinct is dense. it actually is.
KENS will just look like a massive landmark tower sat amongst alot of smaller blds.It wont unbalance it or anything. Kens will add to the area which is gearing up for the massive stevedores site,- will have bldgs that might dwarf kens anyway.

That latest core reconfiguration has a set back in the western side - this may indicate the final height of the first western block of floors before the columns begin.

The thickness of each floor looks pretty thin.

the core is currently @ lev26. The highest level is lev32. (35 above sussex st) so 6 more rises.or 10-12 weeks?

This is the height of the base of weather beacon. the kent st tower rises another 6m higher with its large plantroom. KENS has been progressing pretty slow due to its size. i reckon the last floor plate will probably be completed in October/Nov? the beacon will go on after that wont take long, so should be complete by Xmas?

heres an updated diagram

LOL, I concur. Generally the whole site looks rather neat and tidy.. I love the close up shot of the facade! And there's KPMG... you can barely see it from anywhere in the city. Top pics guys! Love 'em!
