#COMPLETED: Conservatory on Hindmarsh - 18lvl/62m

This is what we'll probably be getting on the site of the old RAA building. The people working on Domain's next project. 18 Stories, 68m tall, retail (RAA), commercial and residential usage, 5 star greenhouse rating, and lots of glass! If OK'd should be completed by early 2008.

Nice rendering. I won't ask where it's from...

Hopefully this one can kick off quickly soon after Hines finishes with Domain.

Cheers Al. I've been waiting to see this for a long time. Different to the black and white that's been going 'round for a while and looks awesome IMO.

Pretty sure it'll go through as there's been a lot of consultation on it, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it go up.

Looks quite cool, too bad its not taller (cliche comment when viewing new buildings =P)..

But year too often good designs are left to smaller buildings and for some reason the ugly ones get built taller

I personally like this one more than the older proposal. I don't know if it's just because this one has a better render out or because I like the glass. I wish it was taller though, but we can't have everything.

Hope it gets the go ahead. Why are they trashing the old plan? Any particular reason?

so we're getting one tower after all - looks great. Even though its not that tall and has a large footprint, the bulk of the building is successfully broken up to a large extent by the articulation of the facade
thanks for the render mate

Looks more like the render that's been on Emporis for a while:

Pants: That render was of the above building, just from side on.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Thanks mate.

Doesn't look like it though. The first one looks to have a level roof and the second one doesn't.

Love the new design! hope it gets built, because Adelaide seriously needs some glass on the skyline to balance the large quantity of brwon and gray concrete.

Advertising boards have gone up today. They show an official site of www.conservatoryonhindmarsh.com.au but nothing's there yet.

Hines' site has been updated though. Here's a new render:

I liked the first render better. This one makes the building look rather bland.

Renders can lie anyway. :P

Agreed, though I'd like to think of this last render as "the essence" of the building
